With everyone giving such good reviews to me i still went in with low hope. The donuts are half the size as local bakeries, same price. VERY sweet and not in the good way. It was not even that good tasting. Honestly i thought they tasted pretty disgusting. My toddler didnt even like it that much! and he loves donuts! While carrying my bag around i had plenty of people tell me not to get my hopes up because they taste pretty bad. I would not recommend krispy kreme to anyone and will tell them what I thought of the place. Service was great, nothing wrong with the employees behind the counter and they were very welcoming and warm. Unfortunately no one goes there for the service they go for the food. And the food was not good.

There are a few reasons not to like Krispy Kreme, but their donuts are definitely not one of them. I appreciate that some people like their donuts to be more heavy — but how can you hate on an original glazed donut?! The dough is so light and the glaze so amazingly thin. Incredibly processed but this is a donut designed for mass appeal. If the original is too sweet for you, you can ask for unglazed one when they’re just coming out of the fryer — or just get a cinnamon ring. The latter will definitely be easier as the service staff here can be(sometimes hilariously) clueless.

I wasn’t prepared to visit this place when it first landed and opened its doors in Adelaide. I’m not a big enough donut fan for that; to que up out the door for at least an hour to grab a few donuts. But at least one year down the track here I am, and I was in and out within 5 minutes. It was less than moderately busy when we walked in on a Saturday night at about 8:30. We walked up to the counter and were served right away. The selection of donuts although was rather short of stock. There were mainly the most commonly known types to choose from– glazed, chocolate sprinkles, cookies and cream … I hadn’t actually had this brand of donut in a long while, and to me they were nothing really special. In retrospect the indulgent donuts you can buy from the bakery section from most Coles are either just as good if not better than what I tried here.

I had to visit to see what the hype was about and weeks after the opening I still lined up for 30 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. The staff are great at controlling the line but the car park outside is a bit of a crazy experience. Whilst lining up you can view the production line which I found a great way to pass the time. You are spoilt for choice when it comes time to actually buy your donuts;chocolate, icing sugar, glazing, strawberry, custard, jam… In all types of combinations. It’s quite easy to fill up a dozen box with all your favourites. You can also buy a range of drinks and coffee if you are wanting something to accompany your donuts. They are tasty but personally one donut every so often is more than enough, they leave a sickly aftertaste and you can feel the sugar running through your veins. Worth a visit at least once to see what the fuss is about though.

Vom. From the portly clientele who shouldn’t be dining here to the viewing windows into the factory so that you can observe the minutiae of the production process, this place gives a display the worst parts of American convenience culture right here at home. None of this would be so bad if the final product was worth it. Sadly, one was so dry it would be better used to crack walnuts. The others tasted vaguely of poison and left a claggy aftertaste which will take litres of water to remove. Save your cash on these overpriced little rocks and visit any number of Adelaide’s award winning bakeries and delight in products made from ingredients not clag!

Gone are the days when we Adeladians had no other choice but to bring boxes upon boxes of glazed doughnuts and other sugared enriched goodies on to the planes after our interstate holidays. No longer do we have to struggle to try to simultaneously work out how to stuff the boxes of doughnuts in the carry on shelves and avoid the looks of annoyance from other passengers: «boxes of Krispy Kreme. Definitely from Adelaide». Why? Because now we have our very own massive two storey Krispy Kreme store with a 24⁄7 drive thru just outside the Adelaide CBD. I don’t know about the rest of the residents of Adelaide but I’m pretty embarrassed. Even after a month on there are still massive lines of people lining up for hours(some I have heard on multiple occasions) just to gets some doughnuts. They’re just doughnuts people. There’s probably a line right now as I am writing this review up. How about the people that actually camped outside the store days leading up to the grand opening? Don’t you have a job to attend to or even a life? Most embarrassing of all is the story that broke out on the news of two teenagers who got robbed at knife point for a box of their doughnuts. That’s right. He didn’t take their wallets or their watches or anything else JUST their doughnuts. Embarrassing for us but funny for the rest of the folks living interstate most of whom have had the ‘luxury’ of having an abundant access to such doughnuts almost a decade ago. Okay they taste good but is it just me or do they seem notably smaller than the ones you would get interstate? Also I can already see this place quickly becoming the hang out for bogans and teenage delinquents.

Great new store in Adelaide! Expect a wait to get in but once you are in it’s a doughnut wonderland! Huge range of freshly prepared Krispy kremes served by very fun and energetic staff, was so good to see a new business with the staff showing pride in their work and the enthusiasm!
