Great local café in Footscray. Always very busy and consistently great food and coffee. Staff are attentive and proactive. Highly recommended!

Yummmm! Why didn’t I know about this place sooner?! West 48 is a little café in West Footscray that looks so uninhabited when you first drive past but once you open that front door, you soon realise how popular it truly is. We took a table out front because it was absolutely jamming inside, quickly ordered a couple of lattes and I was pretty pleased to see that they serve Allpress. And deliciously made lattes with Allpress. I ordered the scrambled eggs on sourdough with grilled tomato, bacon and mushrooms — and low and behold… I could cut through the sourdough with a simple bread knife. You win, West 48! I will definitely coming back here very soon, especially since my typically very picky boyfriend also scoffed through his meal with no complaints! The staff are super friendly, very on the ball. The fact that we got welcomed by 3 or 4 people, and genuinely thanked for stopping by was a really nice way of finishing off our brekkie.

A cosy café in a burgeoning part of the inner west, one to watch for sure.

Coffee here is always consistent and hubby still rates it as best coffee in melbourne. Food offerings are good but choices are limited. Everything I have tried is really tasty. The salted caramel tart was a yummy choice.

Don’t believe the hype. Popular due to limited choice of places for breakfast/coffee in the West, this place is average at best. The coffee was great, but the breakfast menu seemed very sparse to me, and the sandwich that I ordered left me wanting a whole lot more. Looks like I will still need to hop in the car to get a feed Sunday morning. Which sucks, because I don’t have one.
