Celtic Koala is an Irish & British grocery store on Lutwyche Road in Windsor. It’s not too far away from O’Connor’s Traditional Fish & Chips — another store owned by the Irish couple Liz and Chris O’Connor. Come and get your fix of UK delicacies like Irish style sausages, Black & White pudding, UK brands of crisps and sauces and chocolate, plus soft drinks and fizzies and deli produce. My husband loves to stock up on Bassett’s Jelly Babies and Maynard’s Wine Gums($ 7.90 a bag). Australian brands of Jelly Babies and Wine gums just don’t cut it — the British brands are the only thing he’ll eat. He also goes crazy for cans of Tizer and Iron Bru($ 3 a can).

If you’re a native to Ireland or England and feeling a little homesick, then you’ll definitely get a kick out of Celtic Koala. I’m enjoying a Nestle Toffee Crisp from here as I write this, and there’s plenty more where that came from. Seriously, you’ll find all your beloved sweets and chocolates from the UK here in abundance. You’ll also find cooking stock and cooking mixes, condiments, English and Irish flags, and some nice little mugs and keepsakes that feature leprechauns to constantly remind you of the Emerald Aisle. I was particularly delighted by an Irish quote book with some pretty impressive swearwords substituted for Irish slang. And the Weetabix. Did I mention the Weetabix? Not Weetbix for those of you unfamiliar with Irish and English brands. Seeing Weetabix warmed my heart and made me think of my family in England. If you’re in the market for some UK delicacies or just want to check out Weetabix, pop in here for some fun. It’s just before Albion Road in Lutwyche as you come from the Valley.
