Extremely noisy — not a great place for a quiet catch-up. Acceptable food but overpriced for what you get, and expect to queue for a long time whenever it starts getting busy.

Almost 9 years in Perth, why have I not been here sooner? Traditional British pub with extensive range of beers on tap and a solid menu of tasty pub grub. I was here last Sunday and was delighted to see they had a carvery roast on. $ 29.95 buys you soup, a huge plate of roast meat, veg and Yorkshire puddings and if you can manage it, pudding too. Family friendly, sports on tv but still somewhere you can relax or enjoy one of the many live acts on through the week.

I love my mini adventure time with Karine A, returning from getting a nut to finish a job on the yacht and it was lunch time driving down ocean reef road, A «turn here let’s try the woodvale«, finds us being entertained by the St Paddy’s day, green clad band whilst ordering our lunch, A short wait and our buzzer goes off, a short Irish jig to the counter and we were looking at each other with pleasantly surprised looks on our faces at the salads in front of us. The presentation was spot on and the taste as well, one did not have to wade through a jungle of lettuce to find no shortage of well cooked chicken, cheese and croutons. A well cooked egg crossed with anchovies adorning the top. The roast pumpkin, chicken and feta salad looked just as good and tasted equally good in its respective flavors, although they forgot to hold on the chicken as ordered. Plenty os seating in and outdoors, all in all a nice little tavern for a quick flavor some sals for lunch.

Good pub, good food, good service. Nothing particularly exciting or unique about this place, bit nothing bad either.

This is the Moon and Sixpence rebadged as The Woodvale. It is setup as a traditional British pub and has a lively atmosphere with live entertainment provided during the busiest times. Food is a la carte and on Sundays there is the additional option of a fixed price Roast buffet that includes a soup entrée, selection of roast meats and vegetables followed by a desert. This is usually a great option although more recently it’s been badly organized with long queues due the roast meat not being ready and the soup and desert not being replenished when empty. Overall, this is a lively, family friendly pub with a great atmosphere and usually great god and service.

The wood vale stays true to the concept of a tavern. It’s boisterous, it’s beer soaked and it serves huge pub meals. What more could one ask for? It states that is an an English tavern, I don’t know what difference that makes, unless they are insinuating that you won’t find as much junk on the walls as you tend to in Irish pubs.(Which is a bit of a joke considering even the irish don’t go «hey, we’re setting up a pub, lets stick a wheelbarrow on the wall») I have never stayed for a feed(more of a quality not quantity girl) but I have enjoyed some loud music and a beer with mates here. Enjoyable and familiar for any tavern traverser.

The Woodvale Tavern is a cosy British-styled pub in — you guessed it — Woodvale. For a British-styled pub, their beers are largely not British. Amongst the low-rent beers [i.e. Carlton, VB, and Tooheys] are some quality brews from local and international brewers. Abbott Ale is worth a taste if you like a hoppy ale [and is their only genuinely British beer], and they also feature Kronenburg 1664, which is a very good larger. They also feature Beez Neez, a honey-infused beer for those who like their beer sweet. The atmosphere in the Woodvale is very casual and relaxed. There is also live music, although the bands are largely cover bands. The Woodvale Tavern is a decent place for a drink if you are in the area, although don’t expect the Woodvale to serve up British beers.

The Woodvale Tavern serves up quality pub grub. All meals range around $ 20, whether you choose seafood, a hearty steak, chicken, home style pies, salad or vegetarian dishes. In my opinion I’d suggest you bring your appetite and order sirloin steak served with golden fries and add the garlic sauce, $ 25.90 and the tasty thing around. Only problem was last time I came here with a large group of people the food took forever to come out, but once it was in front of me, it didn’t stay on the plate for long.
