We always find a reason to go back to this fabulous little bistro. I must say a couple of times we were forced to sit upstairs and were so jammed in I almost got a panic attack. Downstairs in the table overlooking the police station is the go, open the window and start enjoying … Knowledgeable, approachable staff deliver delicious italian fare and the wine list isn’t bad either. A great local.

Despite Unilocal categorising Buzo as French(it’s Italian of course) it is a terrific restaurant. The food is wonderful. No pretentious stuff here, imaginative, tasty, fulfilling in every way. Cabbage Salad is definitely a standout. Attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and discrete waiting staff. Carefully selected and reasonably priced wine list. Worth coming back to again and again.

We came here the other night for Valentines day. It was delicious — don’t get me wrong… I ate every little morsel my plate. Every single bit of my starter, main and dessert. Nothing left at all. But…I still prefer both Il Baretto or A Tavola for Italian food. For both quality of food as well as value — those two just can’t be beat. Buzo was just a bit too pricey and a tiny bit too fancy for the food that we had. If you do find yourself there though — enjoy the melt-in-your mouth gnocchi and the delicious duck ragu(which is prepared with more of a tomato base rather than the cream base you typically see). And leave room for dessert because the berry trifle thing was yummy.

Make a reservation — Buzo is almost always fully booked on weekend nights. Its space verges on cosy, and tables are quite squeezed together but the acoustics are good so the result is convivial not cramped. This is literally the ONLY restaurant in Sydney we have actively chosen to visit more than once — and that despite it being ‘over there’(the other side of the bridge from home). Meals are just right — adventurous without being exotic, a step up from what you’d prepare at home without echoes of Heston Blumenthal(this is a restaurant not a laboratory). Highlights for me have been anything with seasonal mushrooms and desserts(not together …) Seating is over two levels; I prefer the upstairs as the downstairs feels a bit of a thoroughfare, though it is close to the quaint little bar.
