Shabby chic, friendly staff. A good place to relax with friends or a book while you slowly consume your awesome whatever. Just had the Big Dog Breakfast, it bested me but a delicious gourmet take on a fry up. Scrambled egg, ciabatta, fried ham and tomato, haloumi, avocado, spinach and a wedge of lemon to add a bit of lift.

Came here with a friend yesterday since it was just across the road from the Toyota Centre. Ordered a mocha with zymil. The coffee was good and the place had a quirkiness to it which helped me feel a bit more at home. I really wanted to try some of the food but as I was there with a friend and we had just been waiting for the car service to be finished I obviously didn’t want to fill the car with heaps of yummy crumbs on the way home! When my coffee was made one of the waiters came to give me my coffee it felt like she just dumped it on the table and kept walking. I didn’t think too much of it at the time but even my friend noticed it too. I’m not too keen on that kind of service even when it was busy. But every little bit of kindness does count. I’m not sure if I’ll be back anytime soon but maybe just to try the food!

This little café is a fantastic hidden treasure. The staff are lovely, the food is fresh, and it’s quite unique decorated. The food and drink quality make this café a hit.

Amazing, compact space styled with vintage tables and chairs. Super friendly staff, amazing coffee and drink selection and a really impressive breakfast! Really good value for money too! Cannot believe I have waited this long to try it. Fantastic start to my Saturday morning.

I have been eating at brown dog for almost 4 years. Coffee is always amazing and pretty good value. Meals and service are also first rate. After my first couple of visits the owner and staff made an effort to introduce themselves and find out my name and since then I always get greeted by name as soon as I walk through the door. I would particularly recommend the beef burger and pulled pork roll that pop up on the specials board from time to time.

First time to Brown Dog after some heckling from a few friends and I must say I was not disappointed. Super friendly staff and really good coffee. Enjoy lunch up the road and walk down to Brown Dog for a post-food coffee!

Love the ambiance at this fast moving little café in Woolloongabba. Very friendly and efficient service and the food was great quality. Very well priced and for the first time in a long time I had a teapot that poured perfectly. I loved that. Big ticks for this spot. Lots of local workers which is a good sign.

I came upon this place quite by accident and thanks to my urbanspoon app, I found this when searching for a breakfast spot. As a breakfast fiend, one must have an app to scour out the most talked about spots. We almost missed the place as it was a tiny almost bodega-like spot on a rather large divided two way road. What I noticed was that it was full and bustling with business folks and the average housewife out with friends. We made a Uturn and came back. I was excited because often times places like this were gems and are quite the crowd favorite. I was 100% right. I forgot what I ordered but it came piled with avocado, the most amazing toasted bread and THEE most fluffy eggs I had ever tasted ever. It wasn’t scrambled or an omelet, rather it was eggs fluffed together with air. It was exquisite and I had to stop myself from ordering more. My partner ordered a breakfast burrito like thing and wasn’t too crazy about it. My fault. I should’ve known her taste but I had recommended it so I could try it out myself. It was good, but I’d stick to my order when I return. which i will. The iced coffee was great as well. It was topped with whip cream and icecream combo. We ordered 2 for each of us. It was that good. Staff was friendly as well. I can’t wait to go back and try out the rest of the menu.

Brown Dog Café is the best Café in Brisbane. I challenge you. The coffee is the only 5⁄5 I have found in South East Queesland. Not only does The Brown Dog Café have the best coffee, they also have some of the tastiest lunch sandwich combinations. Allow me to list some: Hungarian Salami. This is the king of sandwiches, salami, semi dried tomato, relish, greenery, olives, on a custom bun. Divine. Chicken & chive, mayo and preserved lemon. To die for. Mediterranean Vegetable. If you can’t eat salami or chicken: this is the one for you. Not only do they do the best coffee and the tastiest sandwiches, they also have a thing called the ‘dogs breakfast’ which is pretty much the best breakfast created by man since the domestication of wolves and their slow transformation into dogs. That’s right. The dogs breakfast is that good. Trust me. To top it off, Brown Dog also do specials, the talented staff whipping up things such as pulled pork burgers, giant cauldrons of lovingly cooked chilli, gourmet hot dogs, and open breakfast burritos to name a few favourites. I thought I had almost finished this review however I forgot to mention the staff are some of the best people crafted by the gods. Say hi to Christian and ask him how his Batman Car collection is going!

I really need to get over that whole«I’ll have the Dog’s Breakfast please!» Thing — otherwise I’ll never get around to trying anything else. Although the name conjures up some rather interesting images, it’s actually a rather good meal — toast with avocado, spinach and haloumii — it makes for a lovely and filling meal. Tucked away in a corner around the corner from the antique center, there’s always a surprisingly large crowd there — not hard to imagine why though, considering the quality of the service n food there. Coffees, breakfast and Phoenix Organic soft drinks — it’s a wonderfully adequate little café to satisfy that grumbling tummy.

I may be a quintessential cat person, but that’s not going to stop me from also being a huge breakfast fan, and it’s under that guise that I consent to eat at Brown Dog Café. Brown Dog is a near-perfect spot for a laid-back breakfast that’s easy on the wallet. The Dog’s Breakfast here is close to the perfect breakfast for me: avocado, haloumi, tomato, spinach, sourdough, $ 12. Bam. Add an extra $ 2 for some extra avocado because ¼ avo is not enough for two huge sourdough slices, and these are the conditions we avocado fans must work with. The staff at Brown Dog are really sweet and friendly — one of the ladies in particular was SO delightful, she pretty much made my morning. I staked out a table in the corner and was perfectly content to abandon my bag on the table(DIBS) before going back to the counter to order. Brown Dog is a safe and cosy space. My coffee was delicious, my food defeated me(as much as I desperately wanted to, I just couldn’t finish… not bad for a $ 12 breakfast) and I was happy to potter away at my little corner table for a good hour or more. Here’s what would make Brown Dog Café perfect: wifi, follow-up table service. That’s about it. As I sat in the corner and chilled out with my notebook, I regretted that I couldn’t hook my iPad up to wifi, and that I had to keep getting up for any extra requests — more avocado, please… and later, another delicious coffee.

Oliver H. was right when he said that Brown Dog really is «man’s best friends» and just like any decent best friend, Brown Dog Café is that café you can always rely upon to «stay the same». It may not look like much from the outside but inside this spot packs a punch with a quirky interior and a menu to support it. I’ve been to Brown Dog on multiple occasions now and each time the experience has been consistently exceptional. If you and your Rover /Fido find yourself down Woolloongabba way then I highly recommend stopping into Brown Dog Café for one or two of their breakfast rolls.

I was lured into this little corner café as I walked to a nearby panel beaters to pick up my car. I was in need of a good coffee(having had a shocker takeaway from somewhere that will remain nameless just minutes earlier) and the cute graphic of Max from ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ stenciled on the front wall suckered me in. I didn’t see any sign of the canis familiaris that apparently are so welcomed here — not a Border Collie or a spaniel cross to speak of – but did see plenty of other local fauna: mothers with kids, fashionably casual dudes with designer stubble and a steady stream of regulars who fronted up to the hole-in-the-wall counter to place their coffee orders. The service was very friendly and I got the impression the place was family-run. The young guy who took my order was very bubbly and pleasant. As for the flat white, it was beautifully presented, quick to come and completely erased the memory of the inferior imitation I had paid good money for earlier. Kudos Brown Dog, you really are«man’s best friend»!

If you are not a Gabba local then Brown Dog is a little out of the way. But you have to love a café that is not only dog friendly but dog loving. Everything about this place screams pooch. My sister’s housemate used to bring his BIG great Dane named Boston to this place and was always welcome. Rather stark looking from the outside, Brown Dog is nice and homey in the interior. There is enough seating outside for you and your pooch as well. They have an odd breakfast menu. It was cheap and tasty but not your typical breaky foods. In fact, I had a Mexican burrito for breakfast the last time I was there. Nonetheless, there are your typical muesli and vego things available too. Brown Dog is definitely worth checking out, especially if you are of the canine loving persuasion.
