This is a review about the food only. I have been to Yering Station about 8 times in the past 10 years and I must say the food has improved a lot this time round. We were given the wrong menu(the winter menu I believe) at first which really saddens me because there are quite a few things I wanted there(scallops, more ton bay bug entrees, brioche pudding which in hindsight was VERRRYYY weird to have in summer). But I did find a few gems in the summer menu. The miso trout was amazing, so was the barramundi with mussels. Hubby was equally impressed with the beef tartare and his beautifully medium rare steak. Hubby refuses to share dessert with me so we had to order two cookies and cream dessert which was, in hindsight, the best decision everrrrr because I most certainly did not want to share mine. What a great way to celebrate the new year!

Gorgeous location and tasting room. Unfortunately the wines are terrible. Probably received too much hype. The best wine this season is a two year old sangiovese, nice body, smooth finish, and decently balanced. It is a huge place as you can imagine by the fact that they can host weddings and large events. Come and take a look but don’t expect much from the wines.

I went here for my friends 25th birthday and I was expecting to have a good time drinking wine and lunch. We went to Wine Bar Restaurant for lunch. For entrée I got the slow cooked duck egg, truffle, parmesan, toasted brioche which was amazing(It looked so good I forgot to take a picture)!! Because there was 12 people, we waited 45 minutes so that all the meals came out at the same time… My main was a bannockburn chicken, smoked potato, sweet corn, ravioli. My chicken was somewhat dry(had to sip at my water to get the chicken though my throat with each bite.), my smoked potato wasn’t anything amazing, when I saw the sweet corn there was just 4⁄5 little bits and my ravioli wasn’t something to rave about… it was pathetic(the outer rim was dry). All i can say is that I had better and if I hadn’t been the designated driver I would have had a few more glass of wine and not know the difference. Don’t waste your taste buds on this main. Also, when I asked a male server a question in regards to the spread for the warm sourdough bread, that particular server gave me attitude when he answered. First impressions last right? Now every time I think about this place I think of his smart ass attitude which he also DIDN’T display joy, enthusiasm with a smile either. I felt like throwing the spread on his face! They need to weed out the weakest links that are weighing the restaurant down and his one of them.

I do love a bit of the old grape juice. Oh yes I do. Yering Station however is not one of my favourites taste wise though. Each to their own and all that but based on wine only I would rate this 3 stars. Where they come into their own is the lovely grounds that you can stroll around — simply beautiful. By random chance we rocked up while the Farmers’ Markets were on(3rd Sunday of each month apparently — who knew!?). Lots of people relaxing in the gardens listening to the live music and strolling around the many stalls sampling the best local produce — waffles, chutney, cider and even Christmas pudding. Perfect for a day trip from Melbourne — especially as we head into summer.

I LOVE this place. Everything about it! From the rustic tasting room and produce shop to the modern new building where the restaurant and function area it. The wines are good and worth a taste but if you aren’t a drinker it is still worth a visit. The newer building has floor to ceiling windows on one side that provide a breathtaking view of the valley and hills(I’m originally from the country and i still think it’s magical). The food is delicious and features local produce.

This is my favorite winery and I try to always come visit when I am back in Australia. I love the fresh market items, because I normally need a snack to go with my wine. We happen to come toward the end of the day on Thursday and had the tasting room to ourselves. We got to chat with the staff and really enjoyed ourselves! Brought a Pinot Nior home and already drank it! It was so delicious, wish I had more!

Terrible wine. I tasted about five of the free wines and the paid $ 10 for the tasting flight of their special reserve. Wasn’t a single wine that was decent even on the reserve list. The gardens looks great with sculptures and ponds and well kept orchards. The interior was nice too, that is until you see the prices. $ 10 for a jar of jam, $ 12.50 for a small bag of honey comb and $ 60 for an undrinkable wine? Highway robbery. Hard to enjoy yourself when they are trying to rob you. My advice, drop in for a stroll in the gardens if you like. We ate at the restaurant and the food was decent but again very pricey $ 30 for a beef main and I had to get more bread to be satiated. There are only so many wineries you can drink at for a day, and I recommend you give this one a wide berth and go to De Bortioli or Chandon down the road!

Nice winery. But there are better more picturesque places. Restaurant ambiance is almost café like, however the view is panoramic and the food… Ah very very good. Make it a point to have a meal there. Not cheap but worth it. Service is pleasant and the wines are nice

Filthy rich? Got some lottery winnings you’re looking to burn through? If so, take the helicopter tour from Melbourne CBD and arrive right on the lawn in the middle of Yering Station for a truly fantastic high end experience. However, if you’re like the rest of us, take a car(or, better yet, someone else’s — please do not ever, ever, ever drink and drive) and visit Yering Station not only for their fantastic cellar door experience, but, the gorgeous location and delicious lunch menu. It gets rather crowded on weekends on holidays, but, if you time it right, you can not only have an unforgettable meal, but, some great personalised attention in the tasting room located a short walk away from the dining room. I’ve been lucky enough to visit Yering Station three times, and each trip has been spectacular. And each trip has resulted in several bottles of their Shiraz Viognier coming home with me. This most recent trip was no exception. Their reserve wines are chart-toppingly delicious, and worth adding to your collection. The tasting room is large and serves as a form of an art gallery as well. Side effect: You do get some very large tours through here, and it can make it tough to get the attention of the staff at the square tasting bar in the middle of the room — but persevere, it’s worth it!

Yering Station is a winery, restaurant, shop and more in the Yarra Valley, whose wines may not be quite to my taste but whose incredible produce store certainly is. An architectural wonder that is home to a gorgeous tasting room where you can try all of the vineyard’s wines, Yering Stations staff are friendly and ebullient while the Station’s shop, selling an incredible range of jams, preserves and other gourmet foodstuff’s is a real foodie sight to behold. Worth a visit for the views alone, Yering Station is not only one of the Yarra Valley’s most picturesque wineries but also one of the area’s most foodie vineyards, hosting a monthly farmer’s market offering fruit and vege, meat and more. Ok, there may be better wineries in the region for those who like their vino close to perfection, but if you’re hankering after some edible souvenirs to take back to Melbourne from the Yarra Valley, Yering Station is definitely the place to go.

On our adventure out to the wine region of Melbourne, we visited Yering Station(Where it all began apparently). Yering Station is a beautiful winery. The grounds are maintained to perfection and the buildings are architecturally heavenly. Some of them still standing from the early 1900’s. You can actually stay at Yering Station, there is an ‘incredible’ hotel here. The hotel will only set you back about $ 1300 a night(Loose change for some of us i guess), we didn’t get to view the hotel space but i’m sure for that price it must be something pretty life changing. Out of all the wines i did get to sample on the fine day in the ‘green belt’, Yering probably was the only winery where i didn’t like a wine… well i didn’t like any here. The assistant that was helping us with the tasting was chipper and friendly, she explained the wines really well but i just wasn’t a fan. The winery had so much artwork around, sculptures, photography and painting littered the grounds. It was quite breathtaking. Come here for the Art and Gift Shop, better wine is not too far away

I came here for father’s day and was blown away by the architecture of the place. It was so beautiful and well designed; we spent 20 minuets just strolling around the place before heading into the restaurant area. The dining hall was a giant glass box that looked out onto their lush green fields. The menu was simple, it could have done with a few more options, but is still fine without them. For entrée I ordered the crab cakes(which I loved), followed by a fish for main. I’m not usually keen on fish, but this one went down a treat. I think their food was unique and definitely appetizing. For desert it was the mint opera cake, which was probably my highlight. There is a playground outside for children and helicopter landing space(if you were wondering where to park your chopper).
