Restaurant China Zentrum

If you’ve ever worked in the service industry, you would never stroll into a restaurant 15 minutes before closing. You can remember people doing that to you, and you don’t ever want to do that to someone else.
Especially on a continent where dining culture places a less heavy emphasis on tipping, these guys were so gracious to last-​minute stragglers and travelers searching for an open meal late at night.
I had the Chinese beef noodle soup, which was very comforting late at night! The beef was tender and noodles cooked nicely. The vegetable was cooked to mush, but everything else was enjoyable to eat.
This place closes at 11PM each night, I believe, which appears to be quite late as almost nothing else in the area was open. China Zentrum is a great «late night meal» for travelers in the Naschtmarkt area hostels nearby!

We arrived famished into this restaurant. Originally the owner wanted to close the restaurant as she doesn’t feel well. However she was kind enough to open up the place for us & called her cook to come & prepare us food. My friend who is a regular here recommended this place to us.
This restaurant is located directly in front of tram 5 & it’s about 5 to 10 minutes walk from Westbahnhof station. It was a great relief to escape into cool shaded restaurant situated at the corner of Kaiserstrasse. Inside, one is greeted by a big golden laughing Buddha.
As usual, the lunch menu costs average 8 or 9 euro, inclusive of soup. The selection of menu is quite intriguing as one could have 2 dishes at the same time. For example, on my plate consisted of chicken pieces in mushroom & lotus roots sauce & beef slices in black beans sauce separated in the middle by slices of cucumber. The dish was delicious. The leftover food my friends had, were then packed by the owner into a plastic container & covered in plastic bag.
Overall a restaurant with nice ambience, good food & friendly customer service.
