Shhhht(but for yourself and best friends, paraphrasing an add of Belgian Beer: «à consommer sans moderation aucune»(and if you look for a veggie bite before, excellent place next door). For those interested in architecture, have a close look around — it was the first renovation project of now renowned, always controversial, architect bOb Van Reeth, who gave a helping hand and inspiration when ‘Lucy’ & Cie transformed it into the magnificent place it is now.

Oh, Bar Lucy. I discovered it totally randomly(as most of my discoveries, it seems!) when spending a weekend in my beloved Antwerp. They were celebrating their first anniversary so there was a big display outside, sharing a terrace with the empanadas bar Buenos Aires(right next door). And I loved it so much I had to go back the day after, when I Shazamed(does that word even exist?) almost every song they played. The environment is bohemian, bizarre, laid-back, funky… all at the same time. We were very full after a pretty big dinner the last night so we couldn’t handle many bollekes anymore. But oh man, we didn’t want to leaaaaave! So looking forward to going back soon!

Nestled amongst lots of bullshit, Bar Lucy is a gem. Not the spot to fulfill your beer geek inclinations but nonetheless an honest selection at a price rate that won’t make you question your existence. A great place to start the night out. Once midnight passed, they opened up the back and had a trendy Dj fill the air with some 128bpm goodness. I feel like I will end up here again because it’s just so «safe».
