After getting turned away twice trying to drop in, I researched and finally realized this is a Michelin 1 star. Serendipity! I’m in town for a month and a reservation was finally successful 1 week later(thanks to a last minute cancellation). They offer reservation for 6pm and 8:30pm.(With a dining room of total only 24 seats, no wonder they fill up fast.) Intimate settings and tasteful décor. Extremely friendly staff including the lady owner herself. Very small menu, all items superb. The highlight was the steamed sea bass with ginger and scallion, Cantonese cuisine at its finest. Very light touch on seasoning and let the freshness shine. Luo Sui is also highly recommend.(The duck was also greatly enjoyed by my next table eaters) As a Chinese living in New York City, I have Chinese food of all varieties frequently. Yet I still give five star to Bij Lam en Yin: for their spot-on selection of extremely fresh ingredients, elegant delivery and overall a proper introduction to fine Chinese cuisine(finally). Assuming the chef is the husband and the assistant is the son, watching them cooking steps from the dining area was very cozy and intimate.
