Buchbar

Buchbar is really beautiful, clean, and feminine. Here you can find the perfect combination of books and coffee.
My husband and I visited Buchbar on a sunny day and enjoyed the terras by ourselves (why anyone would be sitting inside on a rare sunny day in Antwerp is beyond me). You have a beautiful view of the Volkstraat!
The coffee menu is not very expansive — but you are able to find your classic coffee drinks. We ordered a flat white (latte/​capuccino hybrid) and an Americano. Both were very good.
There are a couple of things keeping me from giving Buchbar 5 stars:
1) I don’t like when I have to initiate contact with people working in the service industry. We obviously wanted to place an order but first we had to get the attention of one of the women to help us even though there was no one else waiting to be helped.
2) Because the Buchbar is so minimalist and clean, it’s not super cozy (and least not to my liking). It’s a bit too sterile.
I will definitely go back, but with a few girlfriends instead of my husband to sit outside and enjoy the view and weather with coffee and sweets.

Fun little place. Fantastic coffee (normo), nice host, cosy place to sit and work or have a chat. Great selection of books in the little book section. Good reads and good presents. For breakfast/​lunch only soup, cake and granola but the best!
