This place is located on the very center of Antwerp and considered the place for locals. Come here if you want to experience some kind of authentic Antwerp experience. Nothing really fancy and beer is pretty cheap. Sometimes can be packed with old-timers, but anyway it’s good to give it a shot.

Beautiful old bar in centre of Antwerp. Right next to the city hall! One big regret of entering this bar: They only have beer from Brewery Moortgat! No beer culture at all. I wanted to order a Seefbeer, typical Antwerp style craftbeer and they told me they didn’t have it because ‘it’s not so good’. Well, I tried the beer next door in ‘Bengel’ and it was lovely! So they were just trying to sell me something else. Almost every bar in Antwerp has it’s own choice of beers, this one doesn’t. The brewery Moortgat(doesn’t even brew their beers in Antwerp) owns it. This makes it a bad bar. Enjoy belgian beer culture! you’re living in it!

Best Bar in Antwerp hands down. Excellent view in the terrace of the great Cathedral of Our Lady. Definitely stop by for a beer! Wonderfull atmosphere, good people to talk to, and unique beer! A great place to get beer with friends.

Location — perfectly set on the square. great place to sit outside. Authenticity — impressive, it’s falling apart in front of your eyes; seems like a local crowd. good feel. Prices — very decent EUR2 – 3.50 for most beers Selection — not killer, but good enough. has some snacky-type things to eat. Bottom line: stop in for a beer.

You won’t find a more beautiful city setting for a bar. Set upon a large square, this pub sits across from a majestic cathedral with a large and lovely fountain standing in between. That said, the beer range here is very uninspiring. I ordered the«gueuze» from the menu(it wasn’t branded on the menu), which turned out to be a Belle-Vue, which in turn turned out to be a rather vulgar example of the gueuze style. There were plenty of other classic if very basic beers on offer. So, bottom line, this bar is in a fantastic location and it’s a great place to sit and have a beer. Unfortunately, the beers to be had are lousy. Good prices, incidentally. Anyway, it’s worth it to stop here for one drink, just to sit on the square and observe your surroundings.

«Allegedly the oldest bar in Antwerp in an authentic Patrician house. The pub offers a wide selection of beer. Old American music via jukebox sets the atmosphere for a lively, mostly local crowd.»
