This place let me mit a really bitter taste in my mouth, so I really want to do this review as is written in the ‘Big BOOK’. We’ll start with 5* and just throw away one for the reasons I will enumerate in the followings. Shall we start then? First of all: Antwerpen. A city in Belgium that has nothing special to offer, still interesting enough to keep you there for a whole day. But if the part comes when you want to have some food, you will really find yourself struggling to find a decent place to eat, even finding yourself in the right middle of the city. This is the reason, we ‘landed’ in the old harbour, where this place was the best looking, and most attractive. Fancy from outside, and eye-catching from inside, the first think that will steal your eyes, is the amazing transparent glass floor. And you will actually have plenty time to admire it, because this place, is pretty full at dinner time. Funny enough, they advertise themselves as a steakhouse, however, you can probably get anything else to eat, but steaks… Now, usually when a such fancy place invites you to the bar for a short wait, till a table gets free, you are served at least a coffee or a glass of water on the house. Seeing the price tags, I was expecting that here as well… Well, it didn’t happen. Even worst, since we were sitting 2m in front of the bartender, nobody actually asked us, if we would like to order some drinks, since we are already waiting… So, the first impression was bad, this meaning, one star, will just fly away. 4 to go. After aprox. 10 min, we got our table, where we then noticed with a big disappointment, that the menu consists of a A4 paper with food on the one side, and drinks on the other, all of them written in dutch, with no english at all. Even worst, Google translate could’t help you neither, because of the missing WLAN. So just closed our eyes, and picked pointed on the list. This makes it then a 3 out of 5*. And now the best of the rest! However this probably was only a personal discomfort, I would also mentioned here. Taking in consideration that I don’t really fancy seafood, and they actually sell it here, I was expecting a bit of a smell, as I did on other occasions at other places, which is OK, and not disturbing. However, the smell at this place, was for me personally, simply unsupportable. And at this point, I just can’t figure out if it was coming from the kitchen, the big aquarium in the room, or the plate of my colleague near me. But at this point I didn’t even care. It was bad, it shouldn’t have to be, so there goes the last star as well. Conclusion: — it’s a steakhouse where you can’t get steaks — I’ve seen better seafood restaurants — I’ve seen better burger houses — I’ve seen cheaper places — but I am not sure I have ever seen a more interesting and nice looking place. My advice: NOGO!
