Tawan is a very simple place: more than a tavern but not really a restaurant in my view.
Staff speaks Dutch, English, and Thai. Many Thai people come to Tawan for the authentic taste. Indeed you can find in the menu some dishes you will probably not find elsewhere in mainstream Thai restaurants.
Service is good. Dishes are in most cases tasty. Quantity is okay. Prices are similar to many Thai restaurants however this place is very simple (not to say barely decorated), with just a few Thai elements to remind guests the type of cuisine that is being served. This absence of style (and comfortable chairs) is dragging the score (and global customer experience) down.
Also they don’t accept cards (no debit nor credit cards). But there is a cash dispenser 500 m away.

hole in the wall thai place in the central station area of antwerp. unassuming, looks a little shabby from the outside and not much better on the inside, but the food, the stuff that you’re here for; excellent and very reasonably priced! friendly service to boot! we’ll definitely be back.

Si tu es français (ou simplement francophone) et de passage à Anvers, né manqué pas ce super resto thai qui né paie pas de mine dans le quartier (pas terrible) de la gare ! Les plats sont délicieux, les épices bien dosées (né pas oublier ses mouchoirs quand même) et le service adorable. J’ai un souvenir assez grandiose de la soupe curry, coco et citronnelle, vraiment exceptionnelle.
Attention à la politique cash-​only car la banque la plus proche né l’est pas trop !

Very nice, red curry w/​chicken a very nice rendition. Waitress understood English about peanut allergies. Interesting assortment of vegetables than get in the US, all very good, some still mysterious. Thai beef salad slightly saltier than I like, but meat was grilled perfectly. Went back twice during business trip. Small, but especially for GF people, a nice option to get rice-​based dishes.

I forgot to Unilocal about this spot the last time that I was in Antwerp. The Thai food here is amazing and cheap as well. I think for the two of us, it came to about 50 euros. I look forward to coming back here again. The Thai food here is excellent and authentic. At first I had my doubts about this restaurant because of the location, but I am happy that I let my guard down and toke advantage of a great restaurant. Tawan Thai rocks when it comes to excellent Thai food.

Friendly and efficient service, real Thai food (=very spiced up). The interior is more like a regular bar but the taste is more important for me and my man.
