Best Indian food we’ve had in Europe! Excellent service. Best to come early or make a reservation as it fills up quickly. We ordered the Chana masala and mattar paneer with the garlic naan and it was amazing. Highly recommend Taj Mahal for a dinner in Bruges.

Excellent but very spicy food. Had me sweating and I love spicy food. I had the Lamb Madras and my wife had the Tandoori mixed grill. Both were excellent. Highly recommended.

Excellent food and friendly service. We’ll definitely go back there. There’s a good choice of vegetarian options too.

Having spent ten years in the curry capital of the UK before moving to Europe, always slightly concerned about getting a ‘real’ curry when trying a new restaurant — no concerns here though– a really great, down to earth, ‘does what is says on the tin’ curry. I had a lamb vindaloo– hot, but could still taste the meat, and the lamb(although in small chunks) was super soft. Can recommend without reservation.

Very good Indian food. It was a nice alternative to mussels and frites that are so prevalent. We had the lamb somosas, and shared the mixed Tandoori chicken dish. The garlic naan was excellent as well. Worth a look if you are in Brugge.

Dishes cater to local tastes for sugar. Vindaloo, tikka masala and bindhi were sweet. We avoided korma because the waitress told us it is sweet. Masala chai was weak and a tad on the watery side, but with a warming amount of ginger. The quality of ingredients was very good, and cleanliness was excellent. Seat to check tool two hours for two courses. Overall, the meal was a welcome break from fries and waffles.

I was in Bruges on holiday. I love the rich Belgian food, but after a long night enjoying the beers of the country, I needed to give my body some healthy vegetables instead of fries and waffles, so I sought out this small Indian establishment. We went on Sunday for lunch. We ordered matar paneer and the mixed vegetable biryani, along with some garlic naan. The food came in a reasonable amount of time(we were the only people in the restaurant). Both dishes were quite good. The medium spice level was perfect for us as Americans used to spice. Prices were reasonable, we had a ton of food for € 35, enough for leftovers. I would recommend coming here to get away from the tourists and a change of pace from the same food everywhere else.

Recently opened, Taj Mahal is a family-owned business just off the main Markt under the famous Bruges Belfry. Easily the best Indian I’ve had in Europe and some of the best I’ve had – period. We started with some potato samosas that were beautifully fresh and delicious. I sampled from my husband’s chicken vindaloo, my bestie’s tikka masala and ordered the matar paneer for myself. We were NOT disappointed. The paneer was especially good – so fresh it squeaked between my teeth(if you know cheese, you know this is a good thing). I confirmed with the waitress(who spoke very good english) that the paneer was in fact made in-house. I ate myself silly and waddled back over to the bar.(Well, it’s Bruges) I begged my companions to return for lunch the next day!
