History

Established in 1970.

Irving Burton is a former chartered accountant and was a bankruptcy trustee for over 50 years. He has since retired.

Mr. Burton was one of the very first trustees to recognize the need for a more personal response to the individual debtor. Up until the mid sixties the Bankruptcy Act had been used almost exclusively to provide relief for commercial debt. With the advent of consumer debt, especially credit card debt, there was a need for a different type of bankruptcy.

Mr. Burton was appointed by the Superintendent of Bankruptcy to the original Joint Committee on Bankruptcy (JCB). He was an active and important voice in the modernization of the current Bankruptcy Act.

Kelly Dey has been a licenced Trustee in Bankruptcy since 1992 and continues to run the practice as «Burton, Dey & Associates Ltd.» Kelly has been recognized for dedication and commitment to helping individuals and families with their financial crisis.
