Beware of this place! I’ve been here a couple times and noticed more and more VERY expired foods. Check the labels. The last time i ever stepped foot in here was when, to my wife and I’s horror, they had raw chicken thawing and dripping onto the floor. The pre-frozen chicken was in the deli area, in the isle and actually dripping on to the floor! We couldn’t believe it. I’d stay away from here. The packaging on some of the meat looks like it was taken apart and repacked again, maybe to change the date. No more for us thank you

This is a fantastic store that sells a lot of deli meats and butchered meats. The volume they go through ensures that everything is fresh. Both the deli and meat department staff are friendly, helpful and extremely accommodating with special requests. The deli staff even know the proper way to cut and pack prosciutto! The rest of the store is a mix of deep discounted/almost expired product, surplus food and regular grocery. Their weekly specials are incredible and can’t be beat. Check the Ajax News Advertiser newspaper or their website for the flyer. As you check out you will notice that all of the cashiers are fast, efficient, friendly and all are long term employees. You will also see Sal himself stocking shelves. Over all this is a grocery store that you must include in your weekly shopping trip.

When I lived in Toronto my mother used to say«OMG everything is so expensive in Toronto»…I would just look at her and smile… and then I moved near my mother in Ajax and realized Toronto was ripping me off… as I didn’t know about Sal’s and Almost Perfect Then my eyes were opened at Almost Perfect and Sal’s I have to agree with Julianna on her comment — Here’s another gem tucked away in that splendid mall. Over run name brands at a great price. Very busy meat section in the summer months also lots of locals lining up to buy their steaks and cuts of meat for the BBQ. Excellent cold cuts n the back area of the store for making sandwiches etc(also very busy with the working crowd). Brand Names at Cheap Prices. Excellent place to stock up your cupboards and freezer(similar to Almost Perfect). If you are in this mall there are 4 things to do: — Shop at Sals — Shop at Almost Perfect — Check out Bun King — and if you need your hair done — go to HairFashion 3000(as they are excellent and very busy). So now you have all my secrets from living in Ajax for a few years(I have saved you many years of inside knowledge) :-))) No need to thank me, just send me a percentage of the $‘s that you will save by shopping at Almost Perfect and Sal’s. My mother still lives and Ajax and lives in the area so she goes to Almost Perfect and Sal’s every week(as she knows a good bargain).

Here’s another gem tucked away in that splendid mall I just wrote about in my review of Almost Perfect. If you find yourself in the old school part of Ajax on Harwood and you are in need of some groceries, then Sal’s could fit the bill. Keep in mind, this place is MAD ghetto looking. The aisles are ridiculously tight, the clientele is animated, and the dry goods require a double check of the expiration date. So what’s good about it? Hands down I have to say their meat counter is totally worth checking out. I purchased some assorted cold meats for a tray yesterday and they were ridiculously cheap and totally fresh. Also, the prices on their groceries are totally inexpensive. I have to admit at first I was a little skeptical of this place, maybe even scared. But once I got over my initial fear, I know and have found a bit of love for Sal’s.
