Equator Coffee is a nice place for a coffee. Simple but nice décor makes it very comfortable. Staff were happy with great customer service skills. Coffee was smooth — however, I tend to like a stronger latte than I got, so this is a great spot for people who like less strong coffees.(I don’t want to be misunderstood here — the latte I had tasted great — I just prefer a stronger flavor. This is a personal preference and not a hit against this coffee shop.) We were able to pick up a wonderful craft chocolate bar to go with our coffee.(I want to say it was Hummingbird but don’t quote me on that.) It’s located on the outskirts of Almonte, so you do have to make an effort to go to this location.(You aren’t going to find it by wandering the shopping district.) They do sell a number of interesting fair trade items — jewelry etc. Coffee is also fair trade. There was(beautiful) art on the walls when we were there, all for sale. Really, I was very happy with our visit. Would I return: Yes, if we are in that area. I may go for a cappuccino though to see if I can meet my strength requirements. ;-) Would I recommend: Yes, this coffee shop has lots going for it, including a lovely airy space.

This would get a solid 3 ½ stars if I could give it that. I love the premise upon which this business has set up its business: This is where they roast the organic and fair trade coffees that are sold all over the city, and in certain grocery stores, such as Farm Boy. They have moved locations once, so although I have been to this outlet before, this is the first time I have tried them at this location. It’s a very upscale coffee shop, similar to Bridgehead or sort of like a Canadian version of Starbucks(ok, no not really that last one), and they offer a variety of tasty pastries to go with their lovely coffees. It’s a fair treck from downtown, but if you’re doing a road trip to visit lovely yarn shops or Almonte, or whatever, this would be a good stop to refuel before carying on. And if you visited the shop on a Saturday afternoon, you’d find the knitting group that brought me here today! It was a lovely way to spend a couple of hours this afternoon. I will definitely be back. For more information about them, visit their website:
