Dropped in for a quick bite on a Saturday around 1. Place was busy but service was prompt and very friendly. Very good cllubhouse with a huge whole chicken breast. Fries were excellent. My friend ordered a 9 oz class of wine, which almost filled a half litre caraf. Good food and drinks in the middle of no where.

Eat here once every couple of weeks. One of the best places in town. Steak sandwich is great, and much better than you will find at most restaurants. Not a huge fan of the potato wedges, but that’s just because I prefer the more traditional cut fries.

I’ve been here twice and will definitely be back. The pub is well decorated, and it really is your quintessential British pub. The food is also very typical, so don’t be complaining if your fingers touch some grease. I highly recommend the menu page with the chef/Banker & Butcher specials — the bangers and mash is delicious.

I had a very mixed experience at this place. The food without a doubt was excellent. We had the tortillas and chicken strips, and they were both delicious. The main problem was that we waited about 10 minutes for our two Guinesses and then about 45 minutes for our food(no exaggeration). It was a Sunday afternoon and the place was pretty busy, and I think the kitchen was backed-up. The main problem was with our server. She basically came around once, brought our drinks, and then did not return until after our food was dropped. On top of this, she never once came to say«sorry for the wait guys,» she wasn’t even the one who dropped our food even when it did arrive, and then never once said«sorry that took so long» afterwards. It’s like she didn’t have any idea that this was not normal for food-service. I could understand if we had a table of 10 ordering many things, but for two people ordering two appetizers, a 45 minute wait is unacceptable. The death blow for me came when we asked for a second round of Guinesses after our food, which we thought she had forgotten, and then they arrived AFTER our bill was down about 20 minutes later. Never once did she acknowledge any of this, and despite how busy the kitchen seemed to be, our server seemed to find plenty of time to chat with a table near us on several occasions. I can honestly say this was some of the worst service I’ve ever received. By the end we were so blown away that we couldn’t even bring ourselves to complain, because we both agreed if this server didn’t even see anything wrong with this then we were never coming back regardless. It’s very unfortunate because it seemed like in some ways we were at the right place at the wrong time, but a simple apology or even just an acknowledgement anywhere along the lines would have worked wonders. I’m sure many people have had much better experiences there(not with our server I imagine), but I wouldn’t go back again, except maybe just to order a drink, although even then ours took 10 and 20 minutes respectively. My advice is spend your money elsewhere.

We stopped in at the Butcher & Banker after wine tasting up on the Beamsville Bench. The restaurant serves traditional British pub fare with the a variety of beer on tap(Guinness of course, but also Old Speckled Hen which you don’t find on tap around here that often). There are a number of local Niagara Region wines available as well. The Steak & Guinness pie was great, served with hand cut fries. Service was very friendly. Great for lunch if you’re touring the area.
