My boyfriend and I happened in here in search of hot chocolate. The owner was sitting with his wife outside and immediately jumped up to welcome us inside. We started looking at the menu, and he started listing all of his recommendations– but didn’t even mention hot chocolate. When we remarked that we had really come in for some hot chocolate, he eagerly told us that of course he had it, but what would be really delicious would be some cocoa-chai… Hot chocolate mixed into a chai latte. And my sweet bowen island, was he right. He made some conversation, then left us inside to warm up(it was a chilly day that we had spent hiking), enjoy our cocoa-chai, and admire(read: question?) the New Agey pseudo-ethnic décor. There was also a leave-one, take-one bookshelf, and I think we read some antiquated film theory textbook. It was such a wonderful place to spend some time waiting for the ferry to come in down the hill! This was a couple of months ago, so I truly hope it hasn’t gone out of business!
