Canpar

I heard a lot of horror stories about Canpar, but honestly this was the fastest shipping for regular free ground shipping I’ve ever experienced. Bought it on a Monday, and then got it the next day. They attempted a delivery around 11 am, but I was at work, so they dropped it off at a local Quickie.
I also talked with a customer service representative to confirm where my package would be since I missed the delivery, and she was super sweet, and very helpful. No «I hate my life» employee here.
I may have gotten lucky, but I have nothing bad to say about Canpar.

Every negative comment you read here about Canpar is true and then some. We have a parcel presently sitting in a locker at a local gas station. My wife and I are seniors, we do not own a smart phone, just a dumb phone for dealing with morons at Canpar. I can’t get their stupid locker to open. Multiple phone calls have not helped. Even an email to ‘executive’ resulted in an immediate apology but no real help.
So there our parcel sits, 200 metres from our home and it will be shipped back to Pembroke in a couple of days.
Do not ever use this courier service!

Same issue as others. Delivery «attempted» at a ²⁴⁄₇ concierge at my condo. Didn’t get a call. Left a slip, said they’d return the next day on the phone. Never did. Had to pickup at a way farther UPS store. Kind of defeats the purpose of delivery if I have to pick it up myself.
Brutal.

Worked great for me. Had ordered something online, and the company had given my email to Canpar, who emailed me info on the upcoming delivery. They allowed me to print out something to put on my door, to be able to leave the parcel on my door… and it all worked out great for me. Really appreciated the email in advance, rather than just getting something on my door after a failed first delivery.

Canpar’s slogan should be «the delivery service that does not deliver». Canpar’s policies are created for a world where nobody works during the day, and who have the time and the means to take hour-​long drives to their pick-​up location.
Here’s what happened. I missed the first delivery attempt, but saw that there was an option to provide instructions for where to leave the parcel. I filled it out and signed it, and left it exactly where the driver had left it earlier in the day. The following day, I come back after work to another notice of delivery attempt, but no package. Apparently packages cannot be left in apartment buildings, but this is conveniently not mentioned anywhere on their delivery notice (the driver also failed to indicate this on the notice).
Canpar, in their imagery world where people don’t work, only deliver M-​F 9−6pm, and cannot provide any time window for the delivery, so you just have to miss an entire day of work and sit around waiting for your package. The only other option is to pick it up at their only location 2 hours away, which, you guessed it! is only open during work hours.
The customer service representative I spoke to was sympathetic and helpful, but was constrained by the completely ridiculous company policies. STAY AWAY.

Horrible company. Had to pay for a third delivery because they said they left two tickets, bu t I found only one, gave them an address I was sure to receive the package at… checked the tracking and the package ended up two towns over!!! What the fuck?!?
I am very frustrated with this company, will gladly give them bad rep and will never use again!

I would give them 0 stars if I could.
They said delivery attempt failed twice. I live in a freaking condo with a front desk which can receive the package ²⁴⁄₇.
They also said they left a slip. Loads of BS, I didn’t even get a single notice.
Other courier never had this problem.
By reading the other reviews now I am totally not surprised.
Avoid at all cost!

I tried to give this no stars, but alas, I had to give at least one so this would post.
Today was the second run in I had with Canpar (why do companies still use this «courier»). A delivery attempt was made on Wednesday but I was at the POST OFFICE when it arrived (that was at 2pm in the afternoon). They left a notice stating they would make a second attempt on Thursday. I sat ALL DAY waiting for them to arrive and buzz… NOTHING! Finally, at around 3pm I decided to walk out to our mail boxes and wouldn’t you know it, there was a second notice slip waiting for me. So, they drove all the way to deliver the notice but just could not be bothered to hit the buzzer — it is literally half a foot step from where they left the notice.
I called the customer service number that was on the slip and explained that I had waited all day for the delivery and no one buzzed in. I was told that they would look into the situation and get right back to me. TWO HOURS later, I had to call them to find out what was going on. It was then I was told that their records indicated that they had made two attempts to deliver and if I wanted a third attempt that I would have to pay for it. NAY NAY! I informed the rep that I waited all day for the delivery and her delivery guy did not buzz (I also told her the buzzer works because CanadaPost was able to get me a package that they had to deliver). NO love at all from this rep. She then told me I could pick up the package from their warehouse… which is in the middle of tundra land. I then informed her that I understood this problem was not her fault but that she worked for the WORST courier company on the planet, should find alternative work at a more reputable company, and they could send the package back to the shipper because I refuse to pay for another delivery.
I felt like I was in a dejavu because this experience is the EXACT same experience I had with this company the first time around. NOTHING has changed in 3 years.

I am so glad that they give you a date for delivery. The only thing more disappointing than Canpar’s reliability is their customer service, and the Oilers. Don’t bother calling for help because you will know more than anyone on the phone. If you are a business that ships I highly recommend using Canpar if you don’t care about your customers. I did, at least, get a lot of cleaning done while waiting. Oh, I’m still waiting and man is my house cleaning. Did I mention that I fear using the washroom incase the delivery finally arrives.

Terrible service and rude staff, avoid wherever possible, a third class service.

I just had the worst courier experience of my life. I’m in BC, and the address on Unilocal is for Canpar’s head office.
They attempted delivery when I wasn’t home. Fair enough. I’ve bought many mail order items over the years. When I miss delivery, I just pick the item up at the PO. Not with CanPar. I tried to get info on their website, but my ticket had no customer number. Couldn’t learn a thing without it.
I called them to find out about pickup.
It’s 60 miles away, as they have no arrangement with Canada Post and no partners in my city of 100k, nor in the next closest city of 125k.
The exceedingly rude customer service rep told me I had to sit home all the next day, 9 – 6, to await delivery. She could barely speak English, and flew into a sarcastic rage when I asked her to repeat herself. She then said she’d contact the delivery unit out near me, and find out if they could shorten the delivery window. She didn’t call back. I called her again. She promised again, but didn’t call back.
So I emailed. Their site promises a response within 8 hours. They didn’t respond until 16 hours later, and then only to say the first customer service rep was mistaken; they never promise a window of time.
My package finally arrived. The box was bashed in. Nice.
CanPar is the company that has the contract for the Global Shipping Program with Ebay/​Pitney Bowes. Beware. I’ll only buy from sellers in future who ship through UPS, Canada Post or DHL (Ebay’s other options), and take my chances on what duty will cost.

Don’t even bother with Canpar. Pay additional money to get a faster service. Estimated delivery was six days, and according to the barcode tracker, it’s been sitting in a sort facility across the country for the entire business week. My ticket won’t be handled over the weekend and there’s nobody I can call. Absolutely avoid Canpar.

You’re better off using carrier pigeons than this company.
1. Non-​existent customer service.
2. Re-​delivery charges after 2 failed attempts which are clearly their fault.
3. Drivers who cannot even bother to buzz in properly or contact the resident and leave.
4. Finally the best part, a pick up location 50 minutes north of the city that most customers will never bother going there. Oh it’s also open during business hours only on weekdays. Early close.
How are they still in business? Please close down.

CANPAR YOU SUCK!
Are you people at Canpar stupid or what? We work during the day and we are not home and you dont deliver in the evening and will not schedule delivery for the end of the route either. You leave notices but will not do something as simple as leave a package with the superintendent. Then you want me to pick it up at a remote location not in this town even though you were contracted to deliver the package, or pay you money but you wont come when i am home you will come when i am at work. You people at Canpar do not know how to do residential delivery so stop wasting our time and go out of business and let a company who knows how to get it done take over. You are the worst courier company in this country and as a company you should not exist. If i could give you less than one star i would because you dont even deserve that good of a rating in my opinion, your customer service people are idiots too, and they refuse to let you speak to a supervisor and they refuse to try and satisfy the customers, that is if you can understand them.

Go ahead, send it back, and the shipper will never use you again either.
Upset all your customers and go bankrupt. That is all you deserve.

ABSOLUTELY WORST DELIVERY COMPANY EVER!!!
I missed the first attempt and received a piece of notice just saying «NEED CODE», and it was not stated when the second attempt will be. The delivery guy came on the second day and I was home all day, no one tried to contact me! The third attempt will be 10 dollars plus tax which is absolutely non sense! and the pick up location is in the middle of nowhere!
Avoid this company, their representatives are irresponsible and rude and not helpful at all!!!
