History

Established in 1979.

Since our early days when beer came in stubby bottles and a Leaf ticket cost as little as $ 6, Jake’s Boathouse has become a landmark in the Brampton community! Founder and Proprietor — Mike Cuttle continues to welcome guests to his popular restaurant and bar.

Jake’s is known for a friendly «regulars» crowd that has been developing over many years. As Brampton and surrounding areas continue to grow, new faces who find their way through the doors, find that the great food and friendly surroundings are worthy of Jake’s well-earned reputation.

Meet the Business Owner

Mike C.

Business Owner

Proprietor, Mike Cuttle grew up in Gananoque, Ontario on the mighty St. Lawrence River. His family owned and operated Cuttle Marine during the 60’s and 70’s. Raised on boats, things that are nautical come natural to the Cuttle family.

When it came time to build the first Jake’s in the late 70’s (over on Bramsteele Rd) Mike turned to his Mom & Dad for help. Gord & Marilyn Cuttle had settled in Stuart, FL after selling the marina and had begun a small house construction business. Gord knew how to build things and the original plans for Mike’s idea of Jake’s Boathouse were conceived at Jake’s Restaurant in Stuart, Florida. Yes… THAT’S where the name «Jake’s» came from!

Mike Cuttle is also a Past President of the Toronto Restaurant Association and the 2000 Brampton Board of Trade «Business Person of the Year».
