Sushi 8

Best sushi in town. Prices are good, food is delicious and plentiful. Service is hit or miss but overall my experiences have been good ones.

The food has always been really good. I tried some of the Chinese dishes this time and they were good as well. Tried general tso chicken, sweet and sour chicken and both were well done. Also has spicy salmon hand rolls as they are my favorite. The fried rice was made with Jasmine rice which was nice and light.

The very first time I came to sushi 8 I loved it because the food was great, and the price is more than fair. However months later I returned and it was an overall horrible experience.
The food had hair and dust in it and some of the food available on buffet tasted like freezer burn. To some when I say this it won’t make much sense, but when after eating a bite I felt so sick it took me awhile to get behind the wheel of my car, luckily there is a Tim Horton’s in the same plaza so I was able to get myself a green tea to soothe my stomach.
It’s pathetic because I have a strong stomach, I have never had food poisoning or felt that sick in my life yet I barely ate, and what annoyed me was the response from the manager. He ignored my friends trying to get his attention to let him know how sick I was from the food and to draw attention to all the hairs found in our food. Thankfully my friends persisted that I should not have to pay for food that not only made me sick but food I barely touched. Long story short. Never again

the food was great. we ate sooo much. Had a not so good first time server. She said she worked their for ages… doing what i don’t know. We went threw 3 servers… didn’t mind that cause we just wanted to eat.

I find this place has good food and atmosphere, but it is lacking in service. The servers they hire do not understand much English. I once took my cousin there and he tried to order a bubble tea it took over fifteen minutes just to get the order right. They do not check up to see how you are doing very much. This place is great if you want to hang out in a restaurant for hours, but if you want to savour your day and do other things I suggest you go else where.

Frankly, I asked about crab and the server was rolling her eyes like dice in Vegas. I won’t go back. Hot and sour soup is terrible, Saba was good.

I have been going to Sushi 8 for years and now I have decided to write a review.
For years Sushi 8 was my favourite sushi restaurant in town. Their prices are reasonable, the food is delicious and good quality service. However, since last year their services have gone down hill, same with their food quality.
They have experienced a change in staff and management over the years and I have to say it’s for the worst. There are days when staff members are nice, but also days where they ignore you.
They are attentive at first, but as the time goes on they walk right past you, especially when you are trying to order more (and it’s not like the restaurant is busy). Like hello a little service would be nice. I am paying for it. And same goes with the order. We know how much we order, yet they seem very stingy and don’t like to give us our full order, sometimes they forget an order altogether. Like we order 30 pieces of salmon sashmi, they would only give us 25. I understand that we can keep ordering, but I don’t like how they change the order and don’t give us the full amount. Plus the quality of the food isn’t as good as it use to be, the food still tastes decent but it’s not as good as it use to be. We no longer order the deep fried milk custard because of times the inside tastes burned while the outside is crispy. Such a let down.
There were times (during the busier times) they would give us someone else’s order. This happened 5 times in one night, and each time we had to flag a waitress to return it. During the 4^th time, one of the waitress was really rude and seemed to implied that we had ordered it but didn’t want it, hence wasting the food.
For my birthday I brought a cake in and asked that they put it in the fridge for me. Later in the night, I asked that they bring the cake out so my friends and I can share. As soon as the waitress dropped off my cake, she promptly left, before we could ask for some plates and utensils. We had to flag another waitress down to ask for the items. Even then we had to go to the buffet counter to grab a knife to cut the cake with. Well, I’m sorry we are so bothersome with our cake, it’s not like it takes that much more effort to serve us is it?

First time at this restaurant. Went there based on users reviews.
I have to say that although a little bit expensive the food is great and the service was fast. I will definitely be back!

Please note that this place is expensive, so not a place that I would come to all the time. For special occasions it is okay.
The décor is fabulous, modern and trendy.
My companion and I came after a movie, so we were unable to view the buffet which was okay.
I’ve had the sushi on another occasion and it is fresh and beautifully presented, a foodie’s delight.
Their cantonese chow mien was just the way I like it with the noodles being CRISPY and not soggy from the sauce.
I enjoyed the fact that our server was able to take our order promptly via the iPads they had.
Overall, a great experience.

I have been to sushi 8 a number of times
It was great when it first opened, then we visited 6 or 8 months ago and noticed that things had declined. Slow service, servers avoiding taking a second or third order and the buffet usually empty. It’s expensive so it should be better.
We were just there a week ago and found that things have improved. Service was good, food was great and the buffet was kept up as it should be.

My favourite of the new Sushi places in Brantford.
The Chinese buffet is great when you’ve got children with you as you can get them food they’ll like quickly.

Great place if you are in the mood for sushi! It was a little confusing at first, I was looking for the sushi bar but after the waiter explained to me that the sushi was made to order I was hooked. The menu you order your sushi from is three pages long! You can select from the ideas they have or you can custom order your own. They also have a small Chinese buffet with the normal stuff like beef & broccoli, General Sao’s Chicken, egg rolls, etc. The only complaint I had on this night was that you had to keep flagging down the guy with his iPad to place another order of sushi. My suggestion would be to mount the iPad to the side of the sushi prep area and allow people to order it themselves, all they have to do is type in the name or a number of the item and what table they are sitting at. They also have alcohol including warm & cold sake. Overall a great place if you are looking for sushi.

Service is fast. quiet but quickly able to answer any questions.
I was very, very impressed with the quality. To be honest not what I expected to find in brantford. The quality here rivals some of the best in Toronto. Price is very reasonable. 20 $ all you can eat for an adult, very acceptable. Will return.

We have been to sushi eight a few times. We went this week and we were rather unimpressed. The food was not nearly as good as it normally is. The Chinese buffet was empty the whole time we were there. The service was terrible this last time. Trying to get a server to the table was very difficult and when we did they didn’t let us finish ordering or even speaking. I’m not sure that we will be rushing back any time soon. The 35% discount went a long way when we got our bill.

I loved the food, they were very friendly, they also have a little Chinese buffet, it’s not really cheap but it’s worth the price, I will be back for sure!

Great place for dining in and takeout– glad to see Brantford expanding its culinary variety. Had take out platter for thanksgiving– generous portions and good price!

Almost 4 stars. Don’t come here for the buffet, come for the sushi menu. I’m a big fan of the volcano sushi, very yummy. There is nothing I’ve ordered that I don’t like. It’s all good. Some are great. Beautiful décor, fast service. The red bean iced cream for dessert was a great way to not feel like I was gonna explode from eating far more than I usually do.

Delicious food! Same garbage frozen egg rolls that there is all around town, but everything else was great!
Really nice atmosphere. I didn’t come for the buffet, I ordered out, but I think I’d like to go back and try it sometime. I ordered the General Tso’s/Sweet and Sour chicken combo dinner, the sweet and sour chicken balls were missing their sauce for some reason, but I just dipped it in the General’s sauce and it was delicious.
