I swam at this pool regularly for almost 30 years. My only issues were: not enough time slots for lane swimming with multiple lanes, and the shower and sink drains in the women’s change room were often clogged with hair. Eeeew!

I have tried to go there twice and they have delayed the internal construction project to oct 13th.(According to the poster on the door) not sure if they will finish on time.

If you’ve never been to this pool. be forewarned. Although there is ample parking space in the back, I didn’t actually discover this until my 3rd visit. All the one ways, and islands make it difficulty to navigate to get to the actual building unless you’re familiar with the area. It’s an old building so the change rooms are small. If you have opposite sex kids, you will have to use the shed on the actual pool deck. Not really a big deal unless you’re waiting in line with chilly, wet kids. The observation room is quite nice. You can watch your kids in their swim class without breaking a sweat but, it does get very crowded in between classes. If you want to «beat the crowds», try registering for the 1600 classes. All in all, not the best experience but certainly not the worse. I’ll be looking forward to when opening of the new pool on edmonds in 2013.

A great pool for kids, and for lap swimming too. The children’s pool has a spray fountain and plenty of toys, and it’s set back away from the main pool(but next to the hot tub and weight room). A bit strange in that there are no family change rooms, unless you count the handicapped cubby-things on the pool deck … which I don’t. The staff are super-friendly and professional, and we have enjoyed almost weekly visits to the tot pool for more than a year — we even bought goggles(reasonably priced) at the front desk, when toddler swimming skills progressed to the point of needing them. The pool complex is next to the ice rink and part of the ever-growing Burnaby Lake Sports Complex(it’s kinda fun to watch the cranes on the construction site while waiting for the bus). There is plenty of parking, and bus stops for the 110&144 bus lines just across the street at the Kensington intersection. I also appreciate CG Brown’s hot tub after hiking the trail around Burnaby Lake — 10 km, plus a walk across the parking lot to the pool ;)
