The ramen servings are HUGE. The noodles were done well. The stock could be more flavourful. I also order beef teriyaki. I liked their version of it. The flavour wasn’t overwhelming, maybe on the more subtle side.

Things have changed over the years. Things just don’t taste the same. The Ramen with the bone soup is sure different now. Perhaps it’s a different menu, owners or chef. I really like however is their cold noodles. However my pork cutlets that came with my noodles were dry. I even questioned it when I ate it if they were re-cooked. I’m sad to see they no longer have seafood pancake. I think I came here a few months ago. I live in the area and will most likely come but … just once or twice a year now.

I don’t think this spot is as much of a Japanese noodle house as it is a Korean restaurant though I can only vouch for the noodle dishes. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy the ramen as much as I did. My girlfriend and I came here the other day and had the cheese ramen and kimchee ramen respectively. She absolutely adored hers and couldn’t wipe a smile off her face from start til finish. My kimchee ramen was delicious with a good amount of veggies and noodles(though I do prefer hand made which I’m 99.9% sure these aren’t) and the service was nice and polite. I don’t have any real complaints about what we ordered but after reading reviews it seems like their Korean food is better than their ramen which is something we will have to try next time :)

This place serves the best katsu-don I have ever had. I frequent the restaurant for that reason alone. The ramen is full of flavour and come in generous servings. The service is down-to-earth and friendly. Absolutely zero complaints. If you’re looking for a good Japanese/Korean fusion soup place, this is for you.

Sorry for the late post. Went to this restaurant in May 2013. Really wanted ramen and heard that this place was pretty decent. Location isn’t the best as you could only enter off Kingsway travelling westbound. There isn’t a side street entrance off Griffiths and it is nearly impossible to enter off Kingsway eastbound. So, plan your trip. Ok, about the food. We were able to try various ramen bowls — Netsu, Miso and Shio and found them all to be very tasty. The noodles were cooked really well and the broth was excellent. The Netsu ramen is a spicy broth with ground pork. My only comment on this is that more ground pork would be better. The sliced meat on the other bowls were awesome. All the ramen bowls were decent sized and should fill up most people. There are some ramen bowls that come with the cooked egg but many of the other ones had to be ordered on the side. Many of the ramen places that I have been include the egg as a standard item. The restaurant was clean and the people running it were very nice. We were even served by someone on her first day. Like many of these smaller restaurants, you need to always ask for things because you know that the server(s) will be busy with other orders, prep work, etc. Would go back again if in the area, otherwise, I would go to Richmond or Downtown Vancouver.

Come here for the noodles, they’re well done and generous with the portion sizes. Just don’t order anything else on the menu — it feel as if the other items are overpriced and under-portioned to make up for the terrible value of the noodles. I hate to say this, but the owner of the restaurant just seems to sit there and order his(probably family) staff around, while he just sits there eating or look proud around his kitchen. Not too keen on this place unless for some reason I *need* noodles that day. Oh, and the parking lot is inconvenient and in a weird slope, and can only be entered one way.

nice broth. mixture of Japanese and Koran sauce. they can make it sizzle(spicy the way I like it) the noodle cooked to a perfection. ordered the king Ramen. pork slices is grilled and yes, it will get dry. but that’s ok, I like lean meat. don’t have to drive too far to downtown to get ramen, this place will satisfy you without the drive.

Filling Korean renditions of Ramen. I got the King of the Kings ramen because it just sounded right. Pork slices were a tad dry and overcooked and bamboo bits tasted weird, but broth was pretty good as were noodles. They got buttons on the table for service. Cuz everyone likes pressing buttons.

I decided to try this place because it was near by and I hadn’t been to many ramen places. I have to say it was pretty good. The place was quite barren even though it was dinner time, it’s pretty small, but compared to other cheap Asian eateries it’s well decorated and maintained. I’m not sure what kind of tea they were serving, but it tasted kind of strange, I asked for water, The waitress was really sweet and efficient. We ordered our meals, it was a little difficult as we weren’t super familiar with ramen and the descriptions of the food was very minimal. I ordered one with pork and vegetables. We were informed that we had varying degrees of spicy to choose from 1 – 3, we both were feeling daring and chose 3. We got our food and it was decently spicy and a good size, it seemed to be missing that extra something though… it was good, don’t get me wrong but it wasn’t quite outstanding, I think I could probably throw something equally good together given the resources. So, while I won’t say it was a bad experience this place wasn’t exactly special, I might pop in here the odd time, but I don’t see myself craving it or being too excited about going. Satisfied, but nothing more.

Not thinking of this area much for anything ramen, this little place was a pleasant surprise. A stone’s throw away from the High Gate plaza, on the north side of Kingsway, this little place was pretty quiet on the night I was here, but did not take anything away from my food experience. I ended up ordering a bowl of their miso ramen, and was not disappointed in anyway. The bowl was big, and they do not go stingy on the slices of pork that are part of the meal. The pork was actually pretty delicious, as it was a little fatty, and probably what I was looking for. Also the noodles were nice and tender, and the miso not too overpowering a taste. There is not much of décor in this place, so you can forget ambiance. But the booths are roomy, there is easy parking around the area, and the menu has got some selection. I would come back to try what else is on the menu!

Good place if you’re craving for ramen, but not THE best in the world. If you’re craving for something warm other than phở, this is the place to go. Big portions, reasonably priced. If you want to go to a better ramen place, take the extra 20 mins downtown. I first had the Tonkatsu meal here… And it was okay. The meat wasn’t as crispy as I would have liked. The one thing I do love about this place is the tea they serve. I don’t know what it is, but it’s really addicting.

You don’t come here for the ramen. You come for the korean food. Its kind of like Momofuku in New York in that although the place is titled and styled as a noodle house, in reality, the best dishes here are the korean food and not the japanese noodle soups. The chicken teriyaki skewers here are to die for. It is so good. The marinade adds this tangy flavor to it. The bbq is well done, and the inside is tender. Probably one of the best chicken teriyaki skewers in town. Its really hard to find good bimbimbap in Vancouver if you don’t have korean parents. Imho I think this place has the best available. For those who don’t know, bimbimbap is a korean rice bowl dish with various condiments on top. Its one of my favorite dishes actually. Most places in vancouver go cheap with this dish. Making the proper style of condiments is quite labor intensive and probably expensive. However, at Kenzo, if you take a peek behind to the kitchen, you’ll see that the chefs are basically mom and dad, and they make good proper bimbimbap. I’m hoping that this review will help drum up more business for this restaurant, because they really do deserve more.

The bloom is off the rose. What are they thinking, floating a big hunk of hardboiled egg in the ramen? It’s sort of grey and I dread eating it. Toppings also seem kinda sparse — when I order a ramen, I want to see that towering crown of bamboo shoots and spring onions in my bowl, not just a few wisps of garnish. The noodles and broth pass muster, however, but I think I’d just as soon travel downtown to spend my dough on a really authentic Japanese ramen, not this half-baked Korean imitation.
