Saw line ups and healthy food and took a look as I love Mongo Bongo in New West Items for selection looked really good and so got in line. Was a little irritated by the staff as they kept fussing with the food and the one stood close behind me trying to wipe the counter as I’m picking food so my elbow kept touching her very annoying. Little English spoken only enough to collect money and put out order. Putting all that aside I was looking forward to my meal but it was a let down . Dried up rice and unfortunately flavourless food and not consistent temperature. How is that possible as ingredients looked fresh and delightful . I might try it again and ask for more sauce but with the selection that there is at Metrotown probably won’t be back in a hurry

After paying over $ 16 for my food, I had to ask for extra rice twice. And even then, they insisted that half a cup of rice was plenty. Guess they are running out of rice for the day. So sad that owner don’t know what some of his workers is doing to his business. As if they are not charging enough for their food already, but to be so cheap on cooked rice? Pathetic!

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I have been frequenting this U Grill for over 5 years as I work in the complex, as their food is generally pretty good. However, the service I experienced today was horrible and they have lost my patronage. I don’t expect much in terms of food court customer service, but I expect not to be screamed at like a small child. It was a long line up and I was behind a couple of newbies that were confused by the whole U Grill process. They were standing at the till debating the sauce to choose. I see my food on the grill on the far end and the chef at my food was looking around which I interpreted as a signal he wanted to see what sauce I wanted. So I stepped ahead and told him my choice. When he proceeded to pour it on someone else’s food, I stopped him and said that was not mine. Then this older grey haired guy in chef’s uniform comes charging at me and screamed«YOUJUMPEDTHELINE!», «YOUARENOTALLOWEDTOJUMPTHELINE!» wagging his finger at me as if I am a small child – I am a woman in my 30s dressed in business attire(which should not matter; one should not treat any customer in that manner). I was shocked and confused, all I could think of at the moment was to tell him I didn’t know, but I did state that«You don’t have to yell at me.» His response to that was to repeat his screaming and finger wagging and add«I AMNOTYELLINGATYOU, YOUARENOTALLOWEDTOJUMPTHELINE!».

U grill is hands down my favorite spot at the food court! The line is always so long because everyone knows just how good the food is! They are short one star because sometimes my food is overcooked/burnt and other times the rice is too dry. Other than that, everything is great! There are a lot of options to choose from so this place can work for everyone! The vegetables are fresh, the meat well marinated and the sauces delicious! The staff are cautious of making sure the utensils are not contaminated– on a few occasions, the staff have caught people trying to use the same utensils for meat and seafood… At the end of the day, you are responsible for the cost of your meal as everything is self serve then weighed. However, I think its a little too pricey though I will continue going here! If you have a metrocard, you get a free drink! Enjoy :)

Not the best Mongolian i had, i do not understand the long line at all. Food is expensive and staff are just rude, they all look like they hate their jobs. I should have probably spent my money elsewhere. Zero courteousness to customers. Not coming back. I don’t usually review but this one is just so bad that i have to share my experience.

This place can be DANGEROUSFORYOURLIFE. I severely choked on their improperly cooked piece of meat. When I choked and could not breathe I tried to signal the staff that I was in need of an emergency medical assistance but they just stared at me and offered no help. Everyone saw what was going on but never helped. None of them cared or knew what to do in such cases. When miraculously I finally was able to solve the problem(might have been less lucky and not be here anymore) staff offered no apologies. Avoid this place at all costs.

I usually eat here whenever I visit Metrotown. Korean BBQ sauce is my favourite. Quite expensive for food court food. Cashier was not friendly at all. I am used to it so I ignore her.

On 1÷20÷2015 I went for lunch at Ugrill and was shocked at what I witnessed. There was hair in the carrots and when the lady behind the counter was told she just dugout the hair and flip it to the floor. You would think she would at least discarded the top layer of carrots. If she did this in front of customers who knows what we don’t see. I will never go back again.

I can’t believe they weigh their food on heavy plate and thus cheat everyone in public. I guess that’s how you can do robbery in a legal way. The most stupid part is when I asked for ‘a little bit’ more rice, the chef refused my request. Seriously, I’m asking for little bit more rice that’s worth less than $ 0.10…he acts like I’m asking for a $ 20 steak… dude, it makes no sense to spread your anger at customer only because you have a pathetic job and pathetic life… There are better Asian alternatives at the food court, avoid this place.

Great, fresh food for under $ 10, grilled shrimp with peanuts, noodles over rice with teriyaki and garlic sauce can’t be beat, too bad the cashier lady tries to pretend her machine doesn’t work when you whip out your debit card ad you cough up cash because everyone is standing behind waiting for their raw food to become dinner! Also you will get attitude if you ask for a water #justsayin #wouldhavebeen4stars

I can’t believe I just spent over $ 8 on three bites of bean sprouts and mushrooms. This place sucks. The food is very bland and the chefs are mean! You pick your ingredients like a any Mongolian grill in mall food courts in the US, but here they give you rice with your dish(which I do not care for and did not want). Also, the food is incomparable to that of US. Although this place is not worth the stomach space, their ingredients look clean and fresh, but then again I saw the lady put dirty bean sprouts that spilt on the table back into the tray. So gross and unsanitary.

Healthy but takes a while and hard not to get in a fight in the line with ppl pushing constantly and the cashier insisting u stay in the lime like cattle because the cooks will know what dish is yours

We always find ourselves eating at Ugrill every time we’re in Metrotown. I think it’s one of the few, if not the only one, that serves freshly cooked food in the food court. Even our kids enjoy their food. Very tasty too!!!

U Grill if always my first choice at the metrotown food court, simply because they know how to cook it, and you get to choose from many quality, clean, fresh ingredients. the sauces are all good, and thay complete the meal. you can get any size depending on your hunger, and rice is optional. Never a disappointment.

YEAHHHH! I LOVE the u-grill! I come here every time I’m at Metrotown. If I lived close enough, I would come here every day. It has healthy food, a variety of toppings, veggies, meat, noodles. As the review below also says, I sometimes load my plate up too full and end up paying more, but to me this is a fast food restaurant, bit with a high quality meal so the price is worth it. It’s quantitiy as well as quality. The staff are fantastic. They appear to be very by the book, but are friendly, efficient, and quick. You can see most of their cooking area, and admire how clean it is. Oh, and did I mention the meal comes with rice? Love this place.

I LOVE U-Grill! Whenever I’m at metrotown and feeling hungry, its my go-to place! Some people have mentioned the long lines, and honestly its not that bad. The longest i’ve waited is 5min during rush hour which is totally worth it. The food is fresh and delicious, and customizing is great! One tip is that personally i usually load WAAY to much on my plate then end up paying $ 14 a meal. I’ve learned that for me, maybe 1⁄3 of the plate is good, plus getting lighter stuff like veggies definitely helps, and i can feel full on $ 7.

Compared to all other fast foo mall options, I gotta put U Grill out on top. Their food is fresh, delicious and healthy! Basically a Mongolian grill inside a food court. All of their veggies and meats are fresh(compared to many places that are frozen). Also you have the freedom to choose what you eat, so if you’re on a budget or counting calories don’t pile the food on! Price is determined by weight at $ 2.25 per 100grams. If you think you can do it cheaper(which you could undoubtedly do), cook at home and don’t complain! So pretty much you pick up a tray, slide down the bar picking up along the way your choice of food and go to weigh it. After you pick a sauce to stir fry it all in and rice(free!) is added to your place. Voila! A healthy, piping hot meal is served! Someone’s they even have the mixed rice for free, plus cooks and people who work there are super nice and will answer any questions.

Metropolis mall is huge and you might probably want to stop by the food court after all those shopping and walking around the mall. There are so many options to choose from Asian to Mexican to Pizza in the food court, but if I were you I would go straight up to U-grill – it is no brainer. Unlike other food court places where they serve pre-made meals, at U-grill you put whatever you want and you get your own fresh meal. I love how they provide an amazingly large selection of meats, seafoods veges, and sauces and I must say the all these ingredients looked very fresh. No wonder why it always tastes good no matter what you put in there. Lastly, I cannot forget the importance of «grill» that they use. It is actually what makes U-grill so special than just cooking the same ingredients at home. 3 cooks are constantly exposed to heat caused by the extremely high temperature grill. This high temperature not only cooks everything in a quick manner but also maintains all the nutrition and tastes of each individual ingredient. However, I cannot give out 5 stars because several little things about U-Grill bothers me. 1. Long lines. Always have to wait a good 10 – 15 mins. I’m already tired from shopping and this was definitely a disadvantage for me. But I guess it is worth waiting. 2. When it is finally your turn to pick the ingredients, your order begins by the staff grabbing this heavy-stoned plate. Not to mention that they charge you by weighing the ingredients on the dish, I bet the plate itself is already a good $ 5. 3. The staffs are not the friendliest people you’ll ever encounter. You probably want to say what you want and move along the line instead of asking a few questions about– let say coupons. But I shouldn’t forget this is not a restaurant where you tip them. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal U-grill provided at the food court and I will definitely stop by again when I have a chance.
