Good food, but horrible service. Really horrible. Insultingly horrible. And waitstaff should not wear long scarves and long hair that enter your food as they put it on the table. They probably have good cocktails(didn’t try any), but their beer selection sucks. For the experience of eating out and all it’s pleasures, this place is not worth it.

Meh, nothing special. You get what you pay for. Big portions but the taste factor is missing.

After walking in through the doors is that this restaurant is dark! Server greated and had a friendly smile. We were seated in the corner with a stained and dirty wall. Ordered the bacon cheeseburger, came with a funny taste and overall unappealing look, the spuds turned out to be 2 very small nugget potatoes, and the salad look up half the plate and could use more dressing. Will not recommend and will not visit again. Do not order burgers here!

Excellent food for a really good price. Servers were very friendly and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Large portions as well. I don’t know how they stay in business with such low prices and good food but I hope they keep it up. Nice surprise!

Pros: –Cheap decent food with large portions –They don’t skimp on meat, bacon, and sauces Cons: –Tables smells like nickle –Sever wasn’t attentive, never came to asked if we needed anything and was hard to track down for napkins and water refills

So we’ve lived in Burnaby for over a year now and my boyfriend has only JUST taken me to X-Site, a place he had gone to growing up in Burnaby. I, on the other hand, had only driven past this place on the way to SFU back when I was still in school — I really had never thought to go inside. We took a look at the menu online and I was instantly sold. Cheap eats and good drink specials = the key to my heart. I was a bit skeptical at the prices, however, questioning portion-size, service, cleanliness, etc. I decided to give it a go anyway. We arrived 7:30PM on a Monday and we ordered calamari and one burger each. I was blown away at the portion sizes, which contrary to my beliefs, were not at all small. Each burger came with some potatoes as well as a large salad(which we barely ended up touching because we were full). The calamari so surprisingly good — incredibly tender and it wasn’t battered too much. It was made perfectly and I would’ve definitely preferred this type of calamari over any big chain restaurant’s(Cactus Club, Joey, White Spot, etc.) any day. However, as mentioned previously in other reviews, servers can be ridiculously rude here. Our plates were slammed onto the table without a word and it took awhile to get the servers’ attention as they seemed to all be watching hockey on TV. For the price, though, I felt like I couldn’t complain too much. We’re already planning our next trip back here(probably Thursday for high ball specials), and I’m excited to try out some other items on their menu!

I went in for lunch with some coworkers without knowing anything about this place and it was amazing. The inside can be a little off putting because it’s a little dark and dingy, especially towards the back further away from the windows. However, the food and the service was great! The food here is so so cheap but they do not cheap out on portions or flavour! I got the chicken club, which came with potato with sour cream and a salad. The chicken club was so big, tasty and filling! It was a double-decker sandwich with loads of chicken, bacon, lettuce and tomatoes. The potatoes were a perfect side. The salad was also pretty good and came with a delicious, flavourful dressing(which I’m not sure if they make in house or not). Everything here is such great value and they have a lot of menu options to choose from(pastas, steak, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, etc.). They also have lunch specials that come with a drink and everything here is pretty much under $ 10! Our waitress was so accommodating. We let her know we were in a rush and she made sure our food was ready in such a short amount of time. She also set up our bills as we were eating to make sure we got out of here quickly. Unfortunately, I’m not in this neighbourhood very often, but when I am, I will be sure to come back here for a meal! Five stars without a doubt!

I love X-site. I come to this place pretty often and I’m never disappointed. The staff are always funand the prices are reasonable. My go-to is the chicken cali burger which has a big piece of chicken, bacon strips, tomato, avocado, lettuce, and onion. It comes with a big portion of salad on the side and potatoes with sour cream.

Ohhhh, my new favourite place is so far away! Probably a good thing. It will be more special when I get to go next time. Boyfriend chose this place for date night and it was such a great pick! Service was prompt and perfect! Super pleasant without being phony and overbearing, yet still exuding experience. Nailed it. Food was pretty darn good. I love calamari — would like it even more if rings were thicker. Cajun burger was excellent — would pay extra for cheese. The burger sauce needs to change though. Not very fond of it. Would also pay extra for jalapenos or louisiana hot sauce, or even Franks(tastier than Tabasco). And dessert, oh boy… Next time I’ll order 2 for myself, no sharesies! Or maybe I’ll get an extra cheesecake. So many options. My boyfriend’s steak tasted great — he wasn’t lying, excellent peppercorn sauce.

This is one of my favourite little restaurants and one of the best values in the city. Almost every entrée is 10 $ and under, and you get a LOT of food. Not only that, but the burgers are yummy and juicy. The drink specials are also nice. Most entrees come with little potato pieces, rather than fries, which is a bit healthier, but also a bit more bland. There is also a sizable salad with each entrée, which can fill you up instead of the potatoes. The place can be a bit busy at times(waiting 10 – 20 minutes), but the atmosphere is lively and cheerful. There are 2 – 3 TVs there to watch the game while eating, and the waitstaff is quite friendly every time we go. In the dozen or so times I’ve been there, the experience and food have always been good.

X-site isn’t my first choice for dining out, but it certainly is a great option when you can’t quite decide where to go. The food is good, and the portions are generally quite large — but the best part(as most others have indicated) are the prices! You can get a steak dinner here without breaking the bank. The drink selection is decent, but if you’re picky, you may not find what you’re looking for. As for the atmosphere, it is quite dark, and since it is a small space, it can get loud. However, I have found that these factors do not carry much weight as I have enjoyed conversations with friends without having to ask them to repeat every other word. I would definitely recommend this place.

The 80s are alive and well! Shockingly low prices on a retro menu that will give you an authentic feel for a typical restaurant meal 35 years ago. Remember French onion soup? $ 4.95. Dinner specials are Monday to Thursday– huge plate of totally acceptable food– $ 6.95. Daily drink specials are wicked. $ 3 hi-balls, $ 5.75 martinis, $ 3.75 Long Islands… Great service too and the place has been busy both times I’ve been there. No, the food isn’t chef inspired, but to get a good tasty meal for cheaper than McDonalds, that actually isn’t junk, is awesome. We’ll be back!

Okay– the atmosphere is ok but literally just came here for the lunches. They have $ 10 give or take deals for lunch, love the chicken souvlaki. The portions are huge. One time I tried this BLT and the bread was super dry and probably stale. I tried to grab the young waitress’s attention but she didn’t look please to be alive with a job so… It’s pretty decent Canadian food. I wouldn’t come here other than for the quick lunches.

2.5* You are getting pretty good value here for the food. And if you like terrible undergrad wheat-beer then you’ll be fine with the drink selection. Horribly understaffed by some pretty exasperated waitresses. Poor ladies. Don’t get on their case if they don’t take their time with you. For under $ 10 you can get a steak dinner– made to order– with flavourless uncle ben’s rice, some boiled potatoes with sour cream, italian dressed salad, and unimpressive garlic bread. Nothing about the food is dirty or gross– it’s pretty standard home made food– kind of bland but it’s fine for what it is and what you’re paying. I’m pretty sure they make money on volume and not paying family labour that works here. I get the appeal. but… I can’t and won’t come here though. Don’t have any beers on tap that I could ever drink and this is NOT a place you go out of your way for. I get why they get good reviews– there’s nothing wrong with it– it’s just not my thing.

Tonight I went to X-Site for dinner. I have been once before, but because it was years ago, tonight’s visit was essentially the first time. The regular prices are pretty reasonable(I don’t think anything was more than $ 9.95), but every evening they have a feature entrée for $ 5.95. Tonight’s special was chicken souvlaki, and while it was just so-so, it wasn’t gross and definitely edible. And hey, only six bucks. Also, they have house wine for $ 4.95. $ 6 food and $ 5 glasses of wine – a solid three stars.

This place is cheap. It has a Monday special cheap steak but you do have to buy a drink. SO it comes to less than $ 10. The place is very dark. As well not a lot of booth seats. The seats are very spacious. As well they need to hire more people especially on a Monday. And on Monday, It can get really busy due to the cheap steak deal. However, everyday they have a special with a purchase of a drink.

This place is the epitome of good value! Every day, they seem to have a different special whether it be chicken souvlaki, steak, or salmon. That said, everything is VERY cheap normally. Each of the burgers hovers around 5.95 and 6.95 while the«Mains» are around 9.99! Had the blackened salmon today and it was delicious! It was very juicy and nicely seasoned. Each plate usually comes with a buttload of salad, roast potatoes, and MAYBE rice if you got a main, as well as garlic bread. Overall, a very filling, reasonably priced meal that’ll keep you full but won’t make you feel bloated! Must be the last day for finals… there were a lot of sad looking people with SFU hoodies on.

$ 5.95 for a 6oz steak dinner with 5 different kinds of carbs on the side and a beer for $ 2.95?! HELLYES. I came here with my family specifically for the monday night steak dinner special. Surprisingly(but also not surprisingly) the 6 of us cleaned our plates. The portions are HUGE. So if you’re one to go looking for a good bang for your buck, this place is the place for you. Careful tho, don’t come TOO hungry in case there is a long line! We had to wait about 35 minutes for a table. In the end, it was worth it. That«hangry» feeling went away pretty quickly haha. Oh, and one of the servers looked like she was having an extremely bad day. Sure I get it that you might be a bit grumpy, but damn, don’t take it out on your customers! What did we ever do to you?! -.-” Rude.
