I grew up in BC and my entire childhood was spent playing hockey. There was a Source for Sports nearby that my family went to for all of our equipment and maintenance. The guys there were great. So when I see the Source for Sports name, my expectations are pretty high.
Looking for a store that sells hockey equipment and is not named Sportchek, turned up Adrenalin Source for Sports. Perfect! It is really close to where I live, and a ‘brand’ I trust. I started going to Adrenalin to get my skates sharpened. They have been pretty consistent and I have no complaints about that. The reason I am only giving them a 3 star rating are because of two separate visits.
1. To enter, they have an automatic door followed by a push door. I arrived 25 minutes before closing and the interior door was dead-bolted. I double checked the closing time on the outside door then came back in. I had to knock on the glass and some guy came over and unlocked it, with a less than thrilled attitude. I have worked retail before and understand how lame it is when you get someone coming in a couple minutes before closing, but 25 minutes? Give me a break.
2. I have not had to purchase a new hockey stick for quite some time due to stocking up while playing junior. So I have not really kept up with what the newest ‘line’ of stick is. I was checking out some of the sticks and a guy came over and asked if I needed any help. He didn’t know what the updated name of the stick pattern I was using was, fine, he didn’t know how to differential between the different types of curves or flexes, odd, and couldn’t tell me which were older models and which just came out, come on… Why did he even ask?
I will continue to go here to get my skates tuned, but I probably wont purchasing any gear from here in the future. When buying equipment, I would like the salesperson to actually be able to inform me about what I am spending my money on and make recommendations.
