This is a very new complex way in the Southwest of Calgary; this place feels like a mall as it seems to go on forever and its hallway is open and attached to the South Fish Creek Recreation and Educational Complex, the Shawnessy YMCA and the Calgary Public Library. Brand spanking new in 2001, this high school is pristine, airy with tons of light; there is lots of civilian traffic here which makes for a nice mix of adults and students. Focused on providing a Catholic Academic Education to the students, Bishop O’Byrne High School has grown substantially from the first graduating class of 260 some students to a population of almost 1600 students. I went there on a week day to put up theatre posters and I found the office staff, especially the drama and leadership teacher very open to supporting an outside program that would benefit their students. The school caters to grades 10 to 12 and has both an ESL and Special Needs Division as well as caters to students who have a desire for working internationally by offering Spanish and French classes.
