Calgary East Fit Body Bootcamp

Been here a few times now and really enjoy the workouts! Lots of variety and Michelle (the instructor) was very encouraging and pushes you without being a drill sergeant which is awesome in my books! The other people attending seem friendly and non-​judgmental as well. Makes it easier to get motivated to go when you know you’ll be in a such great environment with great people.

This is my fifth week attending this bootcamp and I have no regrets whatsoever!
I was a bit hesitant due to the price (about $ 200/​month) but once I started researching other bootcamp prices I realized how much value this bootcamp offers as a long term investment in my health.
You have 24 class times to choose from Monday to Saturday, so if you can’t drag yourself out of bed for the 6, 7 or 9am class there are two more options in the evening. And even an 8am class on Saturday.
The trainers are awesome. Positive, knowledgeable, genuine, fun. Owners Jimmy and Heather are great and the newer trainer who started working about the same time I joined, Michelle, is the bomb.
The workouts are quick (about 50mins including warm-​ups and stretching) and they are always different and balanced, so I really haven’t had to force myself to go yet. The trainers also correct your form and encourage you to lift heavier weight/​work harder so you progress very quickly.
You might be able to get a gym membership for $ 70 a month but it is VERY challenging to get the same value and results without the personal training, motivation, flexible schedule and supportive environment that this camp offers.
My friends are tired of hearing about it so Unilocal gets to hear about it instead.

What a supportive environment. Trainers are awesome and modify exercises when needed. Heather and Jimmy Hartley have a winner here and a life long client. At 50 years old I am in the best condition of my life. Help with nutrition is available as well. It is a Win Win for me.

I love Fit Body Bootcamp… I have been going for about a year consistently and they always manage to come up with something new to keep us on our toes. I have some injuries and they are always ready and willing to make modifications so that I still get a great work out. Thanks!

I really like the workouts at the Bowness location of Fit Body Bootcamp. They are tough, but everything is planned out and varied — you don’t get the same workout every day or every week or even every month. There is a mix of full body, legs, abs, upper body, and cardio workouts. The instruction/​coaching is far superior to any fitness class I have ever taken. You can’t hide in these classes, which is good. The instructors are demanding, yet encouraging. They readily tailor exercises to a variety of fitness levels. The participants are all very friendly. No one should feel intimidated about coming to their first bootcamp class.

I am completely addicted to fit body bootcamp! I’ve done a few different ones and this bootcamp is by far my favorite.
I used to be apprehensive about working out with men, but I have been proved wrong! Everyone Ive met is so friendly, encouraging and fun to work out with. Always high fives flying around after class. We are all in it together to get fit, stronger and healthier.
All the trainers are great and know their stuff!
The bridgeland location is perfect for afterwork as its only a 21 minute walk from downtown.
I love how each week and day is a different routine. Nothing feels repetitive! All the different equipment makes for great variety. Battle ropes, TRX, kettle bells, hand/​free weights, yoga balls and your own body.
There is a large garage door that I cant wait to see open when spring gets here to let the fresh air flow.
My favorite aspect is the varied class times. Your not stuck to a rigid schedule of every mon and wednesday at such and such a time. You can pick which class to attend to fit your schedule. If your brave go twice a day!
You will not regret your choice to work out here.

You won’t go wrong with heather and jimmy coaching you into top form. They have two locations. The Bowness one is the one I attend regularly (closer for me), but I do go to bridgeland occasionally. Both locations are well equipped. The workouts optimize fat loss and muscle building and toning. I love that I get a cardio workout with resistance training!
Proper nutrition is emphasized. The class often talks about what we’re doing in that regard, plus jimmy coaches us in all things healthy as well.
There is great camaraderie amongst participants — often time together overflows into coffee visits or other fitness activities outside of class.
Fitness challenges are fun — keeping us motivated for healthy results… but also commitment and dedication are enhanced because ‘prizes’ are now part of the equation!

There are several Fit Body franchises in town, and each one has a unique setup. I like this one. This Bridgeland location is convenient for people who want to beat the morning traffic, and get a good workout in too.
Note that there are no shower facilities here (typical of Fit Body’s), so hopefully you have one at the office! The facility has the standard array of dumbbells, medicine and balance balls, TRX straps, etc. What does distinguish this facility from others is its floor: here you take off your shoes and workout on a felt surface with plenty of under cushioning. This is definitely easier on the joints than typical hard rubber flooring, but can make it difficult to maintain footing during some floor exercises.
Of course, the key to a bootcamp are the instructors: a dedicated husband and wife team run this location. Jimmy is pretty good at being encouraging, and quite vigilant about people’s form. The warm up routine and workouts are quite varied, and make for a moderately intense 45 minute class that goes by quickly.
Outside the actual workout are nice touches for beginners, like a quick measurement and body fat calculation, and a welcome e-​mail that includes nutrition info, a stretching manual, and a voucher for a free 30 minute massage. Also appreciated is that the doors are open and the workout posted well before the first class at 6am, so their is no downtime. All in a all a (bootcamp) class act!
