So this hotel isn’t much to look at. But for the price, it is worth a stay. It is located in the motel village in Calgary and is thus in walking distance from transit and many restaurants of different types. It is exceedingly well kept if perhaps very outdated. The pink toilet and tub remind me of years gone by, but when staying in a hotel for the sole purpose of sleeping and not for spending a lot of time, the inexpensive cost outweighs any aesthetic issues. The complimentary continental breakfast is nothing special, but it can be filling and is a decent start to any day. Check in might take a long time, but staff are cordial and quite helpful. Unfortunately while I didn’t have any issues with noise others in my group did encounter noise issues from nearby rooms. It is a motel and thus if you are a light sleeper this may pose issues. It is nice that all the rooms have fridges and microwaves. The tv was good if not huge or particularly fancy. Again the room is what one might expect for a motel of this age and time period, but it is certainly well kept and well maintained. Wifi is included in your hotel stay but as I’m a Shaw customer and Shaw Open was available I used that instead.

This hotel is located in the«motel village» area near McMahon Stadium. I’ve frequented a few of the hotels in this patch but this is probably the best value of them all. For one it’s far cleaner than the hotels in the same price point and service is way better. A couple hours after a morning check out I received news I should stay in Calgary for another night. Called the hotel and spoke to Doug who arranged for a 2nd night at the same rate and an even better room which was made available almost immediately(this at 11:30 am… regular check in closer to 3 or 4 pm.) By the time I showed up to check in again forms & info were complete and ready to go. P.S AMA/CAA discounts available

On a recent business trip, all of the hotels downtown were either sold out, or priced well over our corporate travel policy. So I had two choices: Canada’s Best Value Inn and the Ramada. The Ramada had poor reviews, so I elected to stay at Canada’s Best Value Inn. In the US this chain is known as «America’s Best Value Inn». This one is located in the heart of «Motel Village» in Calgary — proximate to the univeristy to Calgary and only 5LRT stops from my office. The good news is there are a number of restaurants in the area — Boston Pizza and McDonalds flank this hotel. Denny’s is a short walk, and easily another 20+ restaurants are within a 10 minute walk. As to the motel itself, its a 2 storey building likely built in the 70s or early 80s. The building shows its age. I had a room with three queen sized beds. Again, I had booked late and this was all that was left. One of the beds had its own bedroom. There was also a TV and Microwave for the room. There was no iron and ironing board in the room, but if you ask at the front desk, one will be provided to you. The room was a large size. I had more than enough space to do my morning workout. The rooms were clean and bug-free. I did not partake in the free continental breakfast, as I was leaving the hotel early in the mornings. Please bewarned — if you’re one of those people who needs to stay in a posh hotel that looks brand new, and sparkles this hotel is not for you. If you need a clean room without bugs in a safe area — this is a good choice. The front desk staff was pretty helpful during my stay — even calling a couple of cabs for me, and giving me some suggestions for dining options in the area. I would definitely repeat this hotel stay if I had to.
