They would take more books for trade than other stores and the prices are genuinely better. Having said that, the service was on the poor side and I found the place messy. I had difficult time finding anything and I didn’t get much assistance either.

The store credit isn’t as much as I would like, but the store has a very good selection, they take almost all of the books I bring in. They do not take books which have been discarded by the public library(understandable, I guess). It is a convenient location, they seem to have good hours being open on weekends and evenings. I don’t think you can find a better used bookstore in Calgary. Other competitors are pricier. They also have very good sales periodically, sometimes $ 1/book for which you would need to pay cash for(not utilize the credit).

G books is the best used bookstore in Calgary. They are generous in their store credit for books brought in and they have the best selection of hard to find books, that you won’t find in the franchise used book stores. This shop should be your first stop!

Books, books and more books. Just when you think you’ve reached the end, no, wait, there’s another corner to turn and more shelves of books. The store-wide sale is over, but they have a good deal on children’s books. Bummer, because I’m reading scifi these days. So the two hardcovers that I bought(I really have to limit my purchases!) were $ 16. That’s probably a bit much. Fantastic selection and as well organized as it can be in such a tightly packed space. I knew that some of these authors were prolific, but dang! An entire bookcase for some of these folks!

This is my second trip into G Books. I took a number of used books into a competitor for store credit, of which they took very few. I brought the remaining to G Books to evaluate and they took almost half of the leftover books for store credit, which I thought was absolutely amazing. They have a few reasonable exceptions on what you can spend your store credit on. For example, you cannot buy any books that state«no trade» on the sticker. Also, you cannot buy books on sale(right now, there is a sale on children’s books for $ 0.50). In my mind, that is more than fair and reasonable. From what I can tell, it is mostly the mass market books that you can purchase using your store credit, which is a fantastic deal. As far as selection goes, it is HUGE! There store is way bigger than it appears to be from the outside! If you are looking for used books, definately check out G’s. 16⁄30

It’s a TOTAL fluke that I wandered into G Books, but had I not, it would have been my loss completely. Let me just open by saying that right now they are having what I would call THE best sale in the city. Every single book in their store is $ 1. SERIOUSLY??? YES. And speaking of the books in their store, they have a tonne. They have a better selection than a lot of the libraries in town and the best part is that you get to keep them forever. If by chance however you don’t want them once you’re done, G Books buys, sells and trades happily with its customers. How sweet it is! I left with 8 books for 8 dollars. WTF!!! Unheard of! The day before I had spent $ 30 on ONE book. SUCKA. Make your way down to G Books, because if you don’t get there soon, I will have bought the entire store out :)
