I am new to sugaring, and I am hooked! So easy, yah there is a little bit of pain, but you are removing hair, and compared to laser and waxing, the sugaring is virtually pain free! I brought my 13 year old here to get her underarms and eyebrows done, and she even said it didn’t hurt, and she is so impressed with it too (and impressing a 13 year old takes a lot!)!
The ladies here are so nice and friendly, and totally make you feel at ease when you get there and then fabulous as you leave!
Online booking is so easy to use, and if they have any questions about what you have booked, they call to confirm.
Customer service is excellent, quality of work is excellent, I totally recommend this place!

What an unbelievable experience, and an amazing reminder of what «going way above and beyond for client» looks like.
Yesterday I went in for the appointment that I booked online (or so I thought). First of all, online booking is my favourite, so that’s one point right there.
I get to my appointment about 15 minutes early and the receptionist (I’m sorry I didn’t get your name!) greeted me very warmly and welcomed me as a first time client. I told her what time my appointment was at, and very kindly she apologized and said they didn’t have anything booked for me. This was completely my fault, because although I’ve been using online booking forever, it didn’t even register to me that I’d never gotten a confirmation email — oi!
Even though they had a steady stream of clients coming in and out, the receptionist goes «You know what? I think we can get you in at the time that you wanted any way! Have a seat and we’ll see what we can do». Well, I had booked for multiple areas, which means I wasn’t just a quick in and out appointment, and they STILL got me in. How unbelievable is that? My mistake, completely my fault, they had every right to ask me to reschedule and come back, and instead they pulled together and got me in. On top of that, I never felt rushed and I never felt like a second class customer. While I was waiting for my technician Jenna to finish, the owner (Maika) and a new receptionist (Angele) came out and started talking to me as if we were all old friends. These ladies are so kind, so friendly, and you can tell they really appreciate your business.
When Jenna finally came to get me she greeted me with a smile and ushered me into her room. Now, I’m a veteran waxer, but have never been sugared before. After doing some research on the benefits of sugaring (I’m very into natural and organic beauty products) and after having almost every one I know recommend Gimmesomesugar I couldn’t resist booking an appointment — and I’m so glad I did. Jenna explained everything to me, was friendly, professional, and very quick. Ladies, let me tell you, SUGARING IS THE WAY TO GO. So much less pain, and so fast — I was in and out in 25 minutes.
I wish I could give these wonderful women a 10 star rating, I really do.
I’m telling you as someone who has worked in the beauty industry for 10 years, this is what you’re looking for.
They’re clean, hygienic, quick, accommodating and they really appreciate having you as a client.

I had a session with Jenna today to try sugar waxing as an alternative to regular waxing as it leaves bumps on my skin that don’t go away for a few days. I was impressed with the process, it wasn’t as painful as traditional waxing and so far I have no bumps. I was also given an appointment in a timely fashion, 45 minutes after my initial call, even though the receptionist had mentioned they were quite busy today. I will continue to use sugar waxing with this company and will recommend them to my friends as well.

BEST EVER. I have tried most hair removal options out there except Sugaring. I am now addicted to it. I did my «down there» Under arms and Lower legs. I am also 30 weeks preggers. So I am not allowed pain killers. I did ok. Lets be honest it isn’t pain free but it hurts WAY less than waxing. I was able to make it through the whole appointment and it had me wanting more. I will be going back in 4 weeks to do it all over again and was promised by the therapist that it would hurt less if I am consistent.
Get booking, these guys have done very little advertising and they are booking up fast.

First experience with any kind of hair removal. I had my back done and I’ll be going back again in 6 weeks for sure. Great experience overall!

I have never had a better waxing experience than I have had with Jenna. She is so kind, and is great to chat with. Fast, efficient and she is thorough. I have been waxed at other places before and the results were not comparable to this. If you are someone who has thick, coarse hair (like me) then sugaring will do you WONDERS! Also, this place is amazing — it’s cute and very welcoming. They also play music while you get waxed to take your mind off what’s happening. I only get waxed here now and it’s amazing! Book with Jenna and you won’t regret it!

I’m here visiting from out of town and wanted to get a bikini wax before heading home. I’ve never tried sugaring before so I wasn’t sure how it would compare to hard wax which is what I’m used to. It was really fast, maybe hurt a bit more than wax, but the clean up was much easier and it did a good job. I’ll be curious to see how it grows in compared to waxing but overall a really good experience. It’s also clean and the décor in the waiting room is playful and well thought out. The only thing that I would like to see (if I lived in Calgary) would be a membership program like the one they have at fuzz wax bar in Toronto. Thanks for the very easy and quick experience. Maika is excellent. I am relatively new to Brazilians. Brand new to sugaring. This process definitely hurts less than waxing and gives you amazing results. Maika manages to make you feel very comfortable despite what you are having done (and laying there pants-​less). I would recommend to anyone– just wonderful!

Discovered GimmeSomeSugar & sugaring just over a year ago. Started with a bikini clean-​up and over a few months, worked up to a Brazilian. I go every four weeks or so now and regrowth is minimal. My appointments are fast; 10 – 15 minutes, an enjoyable chat and I’m on my way. Sugaring is not pain-​free but they are fast & thorough and I’m done before I know it. I get the same great service with both Maika & Dinna (I book online with whomever is available). I travel a fair bit and when I’m away and due for an appointment, I’ve come to know that my experience away from home is never going to be as fast or as thorough as I’ve become accustomed to at GimmeSomeSugar. As a woman in my 50’s, a Brazilian wasn’t a ‘thing’ in my younger years but I can’t imagine anything different today. Love this place.

I’ve tried lots of different waxing places since moving to Calgary and I can honestly say that Gimme Some Sugar has been the best experience and best result. Dinna was hilarious and great to chat with throughout the process as well as very skilled. Definitely will be a repeat customer!

I went to see Maika because of the great reviews on here and they were not wrong! She was so friendly and professional. I was extremely comfortable throughout the process (though it was quick!). It didn’t feel like I was getting a Brazilian — just having a casual visit with a friend, but half naked.
I didn’t see any signs on the Vanity Vault indicating Gimme Some Sugar was in there, which is probably because it’s a new location, but it is there!
I live quite a distance from this location, but would happily return because of the great experience! Thanks Maika :)

Ahhhhhmazingggg!
Today was my first visit to GimmeSomeSugar and defiantly not my last. I started my search for a good body sugar girl about two years ago. No Luck. I gave up. Today I’m over the moon. I was recommended by a friend about four months ago. Being that christmas is a busy time it was next to impossible to get in so I waited until the new year. Still impossible. I learned from that and just booked the next appointment available even if it was a month away. Sounds crazy, but wow, worth the wait! Sugaring is a totally different concept than waxing. All natural, no strips, no sticky stuff left all over, no redness, no tenderness, nothing. Just smooth. I don’t know if its true or not, but I defiantly feel softer after a sugar than a wax, and my hair growth seems to be slower, wether its fact or not, ill take it.
Online booking is a breeze, so convenient at 1am and you get the bright idea you need to book an appointment right then and there. The confirmation email the day before app is a life saver, I have yet to learn how to plan my life in a calendar…
Cheap prices, like way cheap. Fast timing, in the door and back in the car within half an hour for a brazillian. All in all, book it. Now. Go. Now.

Maika is so good at what she does. never an akward moment even when youre naked from waist down. she does her work quick and efficient. no hair left behind! no irritation! again, SHES SO GOOD AT WHAT SHE DOES. after moving to calgary about a year ago, ive been to a few waxing places to find «my» waxer. maika is «my» waxer. i almost dont want to post up this review cuz i want to keep her a secret :/

So as usual I follow my sister, or she follows me. Pain free hair removal? I’m in. Going on vacation to Hawaii soon, and this is one of those things i dread doing.
Maika made the process quick, easy and much less painful than traditional waxing. It’ was almost as if we were just two gf’s hanging out, having a casual conversation, almost… when it wasn’t interrupted by the strategic ripping of hair out of the skin.
Again though, she is great at what she does, and if you have to have to/​want to this done, see her. The great thing about sugaring is the lack of sugar paste sticking to the skin, so it doesn’t feel like a terrible sunburn when you’re done and the irritation that can normally happen is minimized. You will be happy you did it, and you lady parts will thank you.

Maika is absolutely amazing at what she does! She is extremely professional, and can say she definitely specializes in Brazilians. I have been to many other salons for waxing, and cannot recommend having sugaring done as an alternative (less prone to ingrowns, and less painful!) I usually have my underarms and brazilian done in about 15 minutes (woohoo!), which is great for anyone on a tight schedule.
Currently pregnant with my 2^nd baby, I’m very limited to different hair removal methods, and would recommend body sugaring to anyone, especially Gimme Some Sugar Body Sugaring. Keep up the great work!

Decided to go try Gimme Some Sugar based on Leah’s review (thanks Leah) and because it’s so close to my home. I did some reading ahead of time about sugaring since it doesn’t seem to be a popular service in Calgary but after my experience with Maika, I’m never waxing again.
The little room inside Amethyst salon in Southland Corner is simple and most importantly clean. Maika made me feel very comfortable and as soon as I was in, I was out. Using the traditional Egyptian method of only paste, she was done With me in 10 minutes! Not only is sugaring way less painful than traditional waxing, it’s also a bit cheaper and more sanitary. I also have noticed less breakage of the hair, and no having sticky residue left over after the service is compete. Maika is amazing at sugaring, because its all she does. FYI while she does do most body parts, she doesn’t do legs. She offers online booking and confirmations as well. I’m officially a convert.

I’ve done the waxing and wanted to try sugaring because I heard great things about it (i.e. all natural, doesn’t irritate skin, etc).
Maika was fantastic. Yes it hurts (you are pulling something out of your body afterall), but she was very warm and friendly, hygenic and explained the process (uses sugar only once and doesn’t double dip in the pot for starters). Just awesome.
Didn’t have any irritation and didn’t need ice. So awesome I highly recommend sugaring and especially Maika.
Price is VERY reasonable as well. Do it.

Awesome place… Maika uses the paste method of sugaring and I swear it’s less painful than waxing and my skin is less irritated afterwards. More importantly I know this place has good hygiene practices… there is a container of Cavi-​wipes in the room (the same used at the hospital). Maika wears gloves for the whole time and even manages to make good conversation during a Brazilian. I recommend this place!
