I love how many locations there are in the city. I really enjoy going to body pump classes, yoga, and the ladies only facilities. The clubs with steam rooms and whirl pools are an added bonus.

I was a member of Goodlife in South Calgary for over two years. They have amazing facilities — clean, a variety of equipment, and comfortable. However, I had a bad experience when I discovered that my contract had been rolling over past my two year term for nearly a year. In total, I had been charged over $ 400, but hadn’t been using the gym (because I thought my membership was expired!). After two unhelpful conversations with the gym manager, I decided to call corporate and explain the scenario. I was shocked at the unprofessionalism over the phone — they basically told me it was my fault and there was nothing they could do to help. I expected better customer service from such a large corporation. Lesson learned — read the contract! Otherwise, my experience with exercising at Goodlife was positive overall.

The gym itself is good, but poor execution on some crucial aspects.
The womens locker room is INSANELY cold. Air conditioned to the max. WHY? This is where people come out of the shower. You can catch a cold. My teeth literally chattered almost every time I was in there.
Staff here — hit or miss. Some can be friendly, others look half asleep. I only got a membership for 1 month and only near the end of that month did I realize certain things I had access to, and no one bothered to tell me.
For example, I had no idea I had access to a fitness evaluation until it was too late.
The gym itself is a good size and I rarely had to wait for anything. Thats where the 2 stars comes from — and from the decent lighting — lots of natural light.
Also ²⁴⁄₇ is false advertising, like other reviewers have previously mentioned.

I transferred my membership from another province thinking the quality would be the same and I’m sorely disappointed. Rude staff, almost no amenities, small aerobics room, and it is small with a poor setup. Once my contract ends, I will be leaving this gym.

Been a member in Airdrie for about 4 months now.
The staff are knowledgeable and courteous.
The equipment is very modern.
The are just finishing an expansion project to make the space even bigger.
Membership fees are pretty pricey but worth the $ IMHO.

Great staff, great atmosphere, lots of equipments to work with, and clean.

GoodLife is fantastic! Especially if you look to switch from an existing client and bypass auxillary fees. Pick the right person and you can continue your existing payment plans even after you’ve finished the former clients terms. The staff are courteous, the add-on’s aren’t shoved in your face and the general ethos and origination of the business itself is well managed and maintained.
Of course the ventilation could be better and people could be cleaner, but hey, that’s everywhere!
I love lifting and as a female feel comfortable and confident wherever I go and no matter who walks in I see their confidence rise as well.

I have gone here a few times on some free passes I got. They really do have everything here and the staff is somewhat knowledgeable. I don’t like how they are a bit pushy about signing up for membership. I do think Goodlife tries to be a good all around typical fitness facility. But for a few extra dollars you could be working out at Talisman, which is a lot larger and has considerable more to offer. I still have not decided where I’ll spend my real money and wait until my freebies have been used up.

Love this place. Great place, great equipment and great classes!

Good Life is a fantastic Gym, I do however have some minor Issues that keep it from being perfect.
Let’s start with the positives.
This Good life offers a great area to work out in, it’s spacious, the staff are kind, and the equipment is usually pretty clean and well maintained.
When working out that’s the main thing you want in a gym, so I will give them points for that.
The Negatives unfortunately are whoever manages the gym.
It says 24 hours on the building, yet on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (The 3 days where I believe it’s essential to work out) the gym closes at 8pm and doesn’t open again till 8am.
This is frustrating as I signed up on the premise that it was a ²⁴⁄₇ Gym. It isn’t, It’s a ²⁴⁄₄ Gym and 9−5÷3 Gym.
The other issue comes with the staff, while most are friendly, the others just look bored and like they want to end their misery, some just sit there slouched at the front desk waiting for their shift to end or a comet to crash into the building.
I understand not everyone likes their job but if it’s that bad quit and go find something else.
Overall if you just want a great place to work out I think it’s a pretty solid gym.

Great equipment, great ambience. Clientele is somewhat snooty. Front desk staff seem apathetic. Half the time when I walk in, there is no one at the front desk and sometimes the staff is sitting on recliners in the back socializing. Everything else is fantastic. You’d think they’d invest more in training staff.

I’ve been coming to this gym for almost a year now. I previously went to the golds gym at northland and to compare the both would be an injustice to this club. For the amount of gyms I’ve had memberships at this one exceeds them all. A gym is a gym and it’s not perfect. They can’t control clientele and things do break but they do an excellent job with maintenance and cleanliness. I more so lift weights but occasionally have hit a spin class which is top notch as well. Only thing I would like to see more of is more accessible times and frequent yoga classes as I’ve yet to have one match my schedule.
I did do the tanning here for about 5 months as well and it’s not that great but does the trick. If you want to get a really good tan on go to a salon where it’s more so their thing but if you want to maintain a bit of color it’s not too shabby.
All in all good, clean, maintained gym with lots of equipment and great staff :)

I was surprised by how big this gym is, they have pretty much everything in terms of equipment, good cardio section, just a couple annoying things: 12 tvs and 4 of them are on the good life fitness loop, also they dont supply towels to wipe equipment and the spray bottles are few and far between, consequently I have never seen anyone wipe a piece of equipment after they use it, when I wash my hands after the water runs black, pretty gross.
I walked over to sign up for a promotion and was told you have to do it on line, so I did it online, went back and was told I had to make an appt for a meeting in person ??? Super unorganized

This is my Goodlife. It’s nearby and was recommended over the World Health on 37 Street.
I like that it has really flexible hours, except for Sundays, so I always feel a little rushed if I go there then.
It’s a really big facility and has enough of everything that you can rotate through and get what you need done. I haven’t tried any of the classes yet, mostly because I am scared to go alone, but they have a nice variety.
The first few times I went there was an issue with the tv signal and it was pretty bad, it seems fixed now so I’m glad.
The only thing I’m not a fan of is having to walk right into the workout area in your regular clothes in front of everyone. It’d be nicer if there was a less busy area in the back.
I also love the free massage chairs, I use them every time. And sometimes even when I’m not planning on doing a workout I think about going just to sit in the chairs and read a magazine! Haha.

I’ve been a member of three GoodLife facilities now-​this one the longest. As a chain I like their product from group exercise to weights to cardio.
If you’re familiar with the brand, this location is no different than what you’d expect from last experiences. It’s undergone a lot of renovations to improve their women’s only section, personal trainer space, child-​minding area and change rooms. There is also a snack shop there that sells protein shakes and sit down/​take away meals.
This location has a lot going for it: open 24hrs on weekdays, lots of personal trainers are available, plenty of parking, equipment is well kept and I haven’t found the time it take to fix any that need repairs to be better/​worse than any gym I’ve gone to. It is worth a look!

This location is part of an old shopping mall, so space is not an issue. There were a lot of renovations and upgrades done a few years ago which have really paid off. Separate areas for group exercise and spin classes don’t interfere with the rest of the club as much as they once did. There are lots of classes available both before and after work. A child care area, tanning beds, women’s only section and food vendor area (occupied by The Funky Banana) area were also included in the renovations.
The equipment at the gym is well kept and is usually repaired quickly when required. There’s a wide variety of cardio machinery with many theater options. Duplicate equipment and benches ensures that waiting around for equipment is kept to a minimum during the peak hours.
Unfamiliar with Goodlife? There are multiple locations around the city and chains across the country so if you travel a lot, there is usually one nearby.

I cant review the actual gym (Canyon Meadows, McKenzie) but I am doing my review on the classes Ive taken. Out of all the gyms Ive been to, the classes offered at the Good Life fitness gyms are THE BEST. They are always changing and have great music, skilled teachers and give you a kick ass workout.
I recently tried a Zumba class with David Olivares. I wouldnt say the choreography is easy to pick up for beginners, as Zumba is done with non verbal cues to change direction, or count. But once you get used to it. it becomes easier. The music is so high energy, and after the first couple songs, you’re out of breath… then you have 7 more songs to go!
Its definately a lot more fun, and motivating than being on a cardio machine. so go check them out. I think they offer 3 free classes to first timers.

I like this place. I workout here and they have a fairly comprehensive women’s section with TVs that is usually pretty empty — even in January.
It’s clean, quiet and spacious and they just put up some awesome full wall decals that bring a surprising energy to the place (or is that the endorphins that do that?)
I like the classes here a lot. They’re included in your membership and really good value for your money. They give you the option of trying out different sorts of things without having to commit to it!
