When you live close to a hardware store, you’re always going to be stuck with shopping there for your daily, weekly, or monthly needs. Driving the extra distance, while theoretically viable, is not always the practical option. So it is with my local Home Depot here in Tuscany! But I am pleased to say that I got lucky. This is a store that employs honest, straight-shooting, and fair employees! When I came to buy a set of plants for my front lawn, I asked the employee for advice on what would survive the sometimes-harsh Calgary Winters. He was able to suggest some plants that have actually thrived since I planted them! When I needed a new snow shovel, the employee there showed me all the options, and made a suggestion based on my bad back. She was absolutely right! I can shovel the snow without fear of hurting my slipped discs, and still get my driveway clear. Finally, I arrived at their paint section unsure about what was the right colour. They took the time to ask questions, and get me to return with a sample which they scanned with their computer. The result? I got exactly what I needed – they knew better than me what I had to do to get my living room just the right colour. If you live even close to Tuscany, I recommend coming to this Home Depot and taking advantage of their superior customer service, and employee courtesy.

I went today to buy light bulbs with my wife. First of all lack of staff so couldn’t get proper help. After waiting for 5 mins Guy comes form back of the warehouse and helps but i have proble conecting three bulbs now. Also we wanted Remote starter blinds, first we are informed that we will get a free estimate and then when a represenative calls, they mention that you have to commit to buy from home depot and installation will cost $ 225 and only then they will come in. Horrible Horrible. Never going back again there

I don’t want to say I’m allergic at this kind of store but from 5 stores this is at least one decent who cares about customers. I found the 3⁄84X8 plywood and I ask for help to cut them in half to feet my car. After 5 minutes was coming and assistant and the first word was 2 panels for free $ 1 charge for the rest of them ! Honestly we did not like the charge when Rona sell already cut panels at no extra charge but this is Home Depot ! The nice guy cut the the panels did not forget to charge us but a little help to load it maybe some other time ! We spent some time to find a hand cleaner but another assistant made an effort to find it. Not the same situation at tools department where the assistant ignored us. Very pricy dishwashers compared with Costco and about $ 25 a box of 350 wood screws 2 inches size. This is Home Depot no sale take it or leave it. The parking is smaller and we hope is going to stop building retailers on it.

I’ve got to say this is the least busy home depot I’ve ever been to even on the weekends when all the diy’ers get on their honey do lists. Have yet to stand in line to check out either for self checkout or with a cashier and there’s always some one around to assist you. I would give this a 5 star but minus 1 because there is no cell phone reception inside the store. There should be no excuse for this nowadays, get a cell phone repeater for the building! Sometimes you need to do real time product research on an item and it’s super frustrating not being able to look it up. The parking lot isn’t busy either but they are adding additional retailers, so hopefully it doesn’t impact the lot too much. Oh and this parking lot is a recycling spot as well.

It was 9:57pm and I was in dire need of sandpaper and frog tape** so I could continue the unending task of renovating the house I bought. I was mistakenly told by a friend that Home Depot is open 24 hours. That seemed excessive. Who needs to buy home reno supplies at 3:00am on a Tuesday, for example? The only patrons of a Home Depot at that hour are probably criminals who need to stock up on gloves and window-smashing equipment. They closed in three minutes. Luckily, I had driven my car incredibly fast and broken all kinds of rules of the road in order to arrive at the most oddly located Home Depot in the country. You come around the Nose Hill Drive corner, and there it is, sitting in an ocean of relative isolation. The«Home Depot» sign shone like an angelic halo on the hillside. A gentleman greeted my friend and at the door with«We close in 3 minutes, gentlemen.» Dang. That usually means the staff inside are going to be surly and annoyed that you’re forcing them to delay closing up. We prepared for the worst. «We just need to grab some sandpaper and tape and we’ll get out of your hair». So he let us in. Now, Home Depot is not a small store and for someone who has never had to navigate its hallowed halls in a sleep-deprived state it can be quite intimidating. I asked the girl behind the counter where to find what I needed. She smiled(seriously!) and said«aisle four». Now, that’s important. 3 minutes until closing and she SMILED instead of grunting like some sort of primal war pig. That’s good service. We sprinted with Hussein Bolt-like speed and agility down aisle four, where both frog tape AND sandpaper were conveniently located for my purchasing pleasure. We then made a mad dash, wildly waving our arms, to the self-checkout. Beep! Beep! «Wait for attendant». Uh oh. The attendant isn’t going to like this. Who’s too stupid to operate a self-checkout?(Apparently, me). But the attendant fixed it up, smiled, and walked away. So I’ve concluded that either all the Home Depot staff are huffing too many paint fumes, or they’re genuinely nice. Beep! Beep! And out the door we went to race back to my homestead, sand a wall and prime it for painting. My experience, given the circumstances, was excellent. **Frog tape is sadly not actually made out of frog biproducts. I feel ripped off, especially at $ 9.99 a roll. So, only 4 stars for you, Home Depot.
