LLP is accredited by Alberta Education & the French government, and both curricula are followed. This unique status provides a stimulating school environment where all students are encouraged to achieve their potential.
LLP is part of a network of almost 500 international schools worldwide that follow the same French curriculum. Students can move easily to another lycée anywhere in the world without disrupting their education.
An important goal of the program is to ensure that students succeed in all of the key exams (French Brevet & Baccalauréat, Alberta PATs & Diploma exams). The French Baccalauréat enjoys international recognition, facilitating students’ admission into universities around the world.
History
Established in 1966.
The Lycée Louis Pasteur was originally opened to ensure that the children of expatriate French nationals could pursue their education while in Canada.
Subsequently, as the school’s reputation for quality academic schooling grew, it was decided to open the school to children of all nationalities.
In 1982, the Lycée Louis Pasteur was incorporated under the Societies Act in Alberta. It had already received accreditation from the French government. It is recognized by Alberta Education as a «Category Two Private School.»
From its inception in 1966, the Lycée Louis Pasteur operated out of various rental facilities in southwest Calgary. In 2000, the LLP purchased the property where it is currently located from Canada Lands, and renovated what was previously a church and community building into two school buildings. An addition in 2009 included a full-size gymnasium and performing arts stage area.
