This is the most absolute worst McDonalds I have ever eaten at. Close to work so I came here from time to time. Every visit is worse than the last. This place is not just dirty but filthy. Has been like this since it opened way back when. If McDonalds wants to get back to where they were they need to clean up. Simple…wash a table for god sakes!

I attempted to buy ice cream here twice this summer. One might imagine this place would make sure purchasing ice cream is possible on every single one of the few summery days we get in Calgary. Not so. Both times the machines were down. The second time, we had to wait in line for ten minutes for the incompetent staff to deal with one single order in front of us. Look, you don’t go to McDonalds for the dining experience or the amazing good. It’s price and convenience. When it can’t offer either of those things, there’s really no point.

The McDonald’s on Macleod Trail always seems to be under construction! I am not a regular McDonald’s patron, but every now and then you get a craving for those super salty fries and give in to temptation. The drive through was closed, forcing us to park and go in(the craving was strong!). They had finished their indoor reno’s an it looks exactly like any other updated fast food joint. There was no line and the person helping us at the counter was fast and polite. Our food came up quickly and we filled our own sodas. We took the food home to eat in front of the TV and wallow in shame. It was typical McDonald’s fare. Not terrible, but not good either. Everyone should already know what to expect when coming here. Only thing that stood out was that the fries could have used more salt!

The closest restaurant to my hotel in Calgary, we figure this would be a good breakfast spot, since it’s breakfast… the most important meal of the day! In all 3 days we were here, they were busy… filled with rather sketchy people. Oh well, as long as I get my food that’s all that matters. They were quite quick with our orders and despite the fact it was busy, I got my order in a few minutes. The food was nothing special, as with most other McDonald’s. I’m not too fond of the food in general, but if we’re talking about convenience and fast food, I don’t mind too much when it comes to eating here every so often.

In all the years I’ve come here I have never seen this store even remotely empty. Even with construction going on right now and the store being a mess to get in and out of, there was still a line three people deep and the dining room half full. Right now I would say avoid this place. The drive-thru is closed and their renovating the outside of the building so its a big mess outside. Inside the reno is done and it looks nice. Once their done with the retrofit come on back. No complaints here.

Several other reviews commented on the unsavory crowd that hang out at this peticular store. My coworkers come here for morning coffee a lot and have named this hobo Mc Donalds, think part of the reason is that there is a side door that cant be seen from the front counter that allows street people to enter and get access to the washroom. Many times I have encountered a what looked like a homeless guy having a quasi shower in the washroom . The food seems to be standard fare the front areas are clean but the washrooms are filthy.

Review #20 of Unilocal’s 30 Day Challenge 2012 I don’t really know what’s inside this particular McDonald’s as I’ve only used the drive-thru. McDonald’s food is well McDonald’s — standard, greasy, and probably made up of a lot of things I’m not supposed to eat. But it is also very convenient and quick for those late night/early morning/after a late show fries, sundae and burger cravings I get when almost everybody else is already closed. I like how their fries are always hot/warm and they don’t taste like they’ve been sitting too long even when not a lot of people are in the drive-thru or dining inside. They’re also very generous when I ask for ketchup and McChicken sandwich sauce even if I didn’t get a McChicken. As I write this review, I feel like my arteries are clogging and my kidney is crying from too much unnatural stuff I’m feeding it. Will this stop me from going to McDonald’s? Probably not as it is the only place within the area that I know is open during the weird hours when my cravings kick in(and this girl needs to eat when she’s hungry) and I probably will until I find or someone recommends an alternative. Or maybe I just learn how to control my cravings.

My boyfriend lives for this crap. I’ve only done drive through to pick it up for him and on very rare occasion I order something. They have a few more options that are less disgusting like the angus burgers and the mini burgers but those taste a lot more like a home cooked burger so if you like the taste of macdonalds you might not want this. The yogurt cup with granola and fruit is yummy when it’s fresh. In the summer I get a McFlurry now and then to relieve me from a hot day. The drive through runs pretty smoothly and they don’t make too many mistakes.

What is it about this McDonalds? It seems to attract a rather unsavory crowd… now I could see if it was located in a bad neighbourhood, but its located on Macleod Trail, more of a thoroughfare. All of that aside… Ok, McDonalds food is pretty standard, however here the food here always seems to be very fresh and the fries consistently hot… which is nice… noticing your fries are cold when driving away with your food is a bummer. The drive thru staff are pleasant and efficient. This is one of the older Mcdonalds and the inside reminds me of those old Mcdonalds ads on tv… tacky but decidedly fun. This particular Mcd’s is open 24 hours, although I am not sure if its just the drive thru… Most likely. Food…sadly a guilty pleasure… lovin it’ Strange crowd that it attracts… not so much. I will continue to use the drive thru though. :)
