Love, Love, Love this salon! I’ve found all of the staff to be very friendly and professional. The salon is spotless and despite being busy, they’re very accommodating.

Every chance I get to come to mint nails I am excited. I am from out of town so when I visit Calgary I make sure it’s a spot I don’t miss. My nails always look amazing and I am treated with the utmost care. They are very friendly and kind and I leave the salon happy every single time.

I came to mint to get my eyebrows waxed and had Heather do my mani & pedi. I had a great experience. I love the fact that the salon is clean. The price is very reasonable and the staff was very welcoming and friendly.

I was in Calgary for my wedding, and my bridal party and myself went to go get our nails done (this was about 2 weeks ago). Service was terrible. They are incredibly rude and pushy. One of my bridesmaids got a mani/​pedi and was bleeding by the end of it from being cut up. All they gave her was 15% off. Frankly, it should have been free. I had gel nails done to my hands. There wasn’t a lot of patience. She quickly put my nails on, and because she didn’t clean the back of the nails or my hands well I had to come back to get it all fixed. On top of that, I had 6 sparkles put on one of my nails (the ring finger on each hand) and they charged an extra $ 10. I called earlier and they said a little bit of extra sparkle won’t cost anything. In the store, they told me those gem things (which they have about 1000 in one little box) were very expensive. Next time I’ll be sure to bring in my own so they don’t charge me $ 10 (on top of the already $ 55 for gel nails). I’m sorry for anyone who comes in there expecting a nice experience. They were rude, and people got hurt. ALSO, the person who did my nails had a wart on her hand (I noticed at the end of the appointment) so if you still decide to go to this place (even though I recommend to stay away!) please be sure to ask them to use gloves.

Wedding season has arrived!!! And yes I like most females am treating myself to a mani/​pedi but not just any basic one but an upgrade to the shellac nails.
First impressions the place is tidy and clean, modern compared to other nail salons and there’s ample parking.
Ada was my nail tech and let me say she was super friendly and turn my gorilla hands into lady hands. The tech paid close attention to detail and overall great paint job. She even shaped my nails a nice almond shape which I would have never picked for myself but it made my hands look oh so feminine. Got so many compliments and I haven’t even gone to the wedding yet. I also got my eyebrows waxed by Samantha. it was quick and the shape I like. Definitely will be coming back.

Thought it was a nice salon but had a shellac pedicure –done and bf had mani pedi done before our trip and had to come back because there was a big glob on my toenail and the color started turning black. Had to wait 30 minutes despite making an appointment for them to fix the mistake. Was treated rudely and my time was not respected at all. Bfs nails were not even trimmed evenly or filed, was cut down to the skin pretty much bleeding, the deluxe pedicure was not even fully done. So disappointed. Will not be returning.

Had a mani pedi with David. Great service and results. Really appreciated that they don’t res-​use tools; they put the tools in a plastic box with my name on it for future use. Definitely would recommend this salon.

Really beautiful, modern, and clean inside. However… Like any other nail salon. You are IN and you are OUT! I never understand the «spa» part in the pedicures at these places. To me, slapping on latex gloves, loading a huge blob of perfumed lotion on to the legs and quickly rubbing the legs (not massaging) until the cream absorbs is no where near «spa-​like». I was 9 months pregnant with swollen legs and asked if she could massage a bit more and I would even pay, well… that didn’t fly. There is a massive TV consuming the wall in front of you, blaring the food channel. The TV totally takes away from the cool, ultra modern, chic vibe of the salon. Also, I hate when they rush you to your seat, barely speak to you but somehow find time to talk throughout your whole treatment to the other staff in their own language. You definitely feel out of place and uncomfortable. To top it all off, you get a nice lukewarm cold plastic dish to soak your desperate, Calgary cracked and dried nails. Not very spa-​like either. Not sure what the water that turns chilly in one minute does to your cuticles that you are paying BIG BUCKS to have removed. My girl cut one of my cuticles too close to my skin and I bled. She tried to conceal it and never told me and it ended up stinging and was so sore for days! Not very classy.
I think the owner did a good job aesthetically, however, like the next nail bar/​salon down the street, it is no different in service and comfort. I have yet to find a nail place that really gives a good, deep massage, even if it’s a 2 minute one, is quiet (no TV blaring), separates the nail filers behind a wall (the fake nail stations drive me nuts, and has staff that speak to YOU and make you feel comfortable and welcome.

I admit the nail salon itself is clean and nice but the service provided was not so good. Firstly, this nail technician (I think her name is Christina) kept pushing me to use gel on my whole nail instead of just the tip for my solar nail fill. Then, when she told me to pick a gel color for my tips, after I picked a sparkly white one, she kept saying to pick a brighter and better color. Why do they ask you to pick a different service and/​or color than you want, knowing you are paying them good money and when they know how provide the service you are requesting? Maybe because the service they are pushing you to do takes less time and/​or is easier, which is not right. Some of these ladies need to learn how to provide proper customer service and learn to respect their customers. Not happy. I felt rushed and that she had not been very thorough with the nail sanding. Through the part of my nails not painted you can still see where my nail had grown underneath from my old fill. That has never happened to me at a nail salon before. I could probably do a better job myself. She clearly was rushing and did not do a thorough job. I will never go back again. I recommend Jenny from Paradize Nails and Hair Salon in Airdrie. Yes. It is a little farther than Mint Nails and Spa Lounge, but for the service Jenny gives me, it is worth it.

I had David do my gel nails and it was awesome! The lady at the front was also very welcoming, while David was also very detailed with the entire nail process. The price was definitely worth it! Also there was barely any wait :) will be going back regularly!

Wow! This place is amazing! Christina did a great job on my shellac manicure. Good products and a lots of choice for colours.
The salon is very clean. Very cool! The service was amazing too and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. I would recommended Mint Nail Salon to anyone, and I’ll definitely be a return customer!

I found this place by searching up best nail salons in Calgary and after reading some great reviews, my friend and I decided to come try it out. I called to book an appointment and asked about pricing, which was $ 55 for a new set of gel nails. I booked for 3:15 but when I realized I couldn’t get out of a meeting in time, I called at around 2:30 to reschdule for 3:30. The girl that picked up the phone at first didn’t even understand me at first so passed it off to another girl, I told her my situation and she said it was alright. By 3:15, I get a phone call from the receptionist asking where I was. I told her I called earlier and spoke to someone else to reschedule to 3:30 because I couldn’t make it on time. She was being sort of rude over the phone but I was confused because the last person I spoke with said it was alright. At first, the times couldn’t work out because there was another appointment for 4:30 with the tech we asked for but eventually it was resolved and we were able to be squeezed in.
When we got there, we were seated accordingly and as my tech was doing my nails, we spoke back and forth about solar nails. She told me that they were strong and so on, I asked about the price and difference in strength with UV and she said they are the same price but solar is better. So I agreed to getting solar nails and she said it’d be $ 55 for a new set, although I already had acrylics on. As she was filing my nails down, she said she wanted to try to keep the nail that was already underneath and I said okay if that works better. But within some moments, she started clipping off all my nails but never said anything. After taking off the acrylics, I decided to get stilletto style nails. An hour goes by and I was left with beautiful nails. I was quite ecstatic about my nails when we were done, I kept thinking to myself, I can’t wait to tell everyone about this new gem I found!
As I get to the till, my bill was $ 70. I was so confused, I asked the nail tech why wasn’t it $ 55? She said there was an extra charge for taking off the old nails and since I wanted my nails a little longer that was another extra charge. What kind of horse crap is that? No one informed me about the extra charge for taking off the older nails, no one said longer nails were even more on top of the price that they already were! What aggravates me even more is that my friend had basically the same length as me, mine was just really pointy and hers were rounded, she even got two accent nails with rhinestones on them for $ 55!!! I am beyond upset with how I was treated, to be deceived by a nail salon that has a great reputation?! Was it because I didn’t come in at the time I was originally scheduled for? I thought I was getting along with the nail tech, we even spoke Vietnamese back and forth! On top of this all, my friend told me about the file they made for her and said the receptionist apologized to her about the miscommunication over the phone. Wait, what? I’m the one that made the phone calls, I was never made a file… Did I do something truly wrong? Why do I feel like I’m being discriminated or something?
After personally working in customer service myself for a few years, I don’t see how my experience with this salon was acceptable at all. To represent a company, you should always deliver the best service you can no matter how tough the situation gets. You should never hide or lie about important fees or charges that the customer may not know about. If I informed about all those extra charges, I wouldn’t be writing this today. I’m so bummed about how things turned out because I am actually very satisfied with my nails. I’ve been getting my nails done for years and I always send my family, friends, clients of my own and even strangers to the salon I favourite the most. I would love to send people to this salon because of the beautiful setting it has and the amazing techs that work there but I can’t bring myself to come to terms with a company that will deceive their own customers.

I went to Mint for the first time today. I got a regular mani and pedi. Only $ 45 — which I think is a pretty good bargain. But they really rush you. My pedi was done and mani started in 36 minutes. The pedi is nice, although I had to ask more than once to scrub more callous off. The mani not so good. I don’t have the greatest nails, they’re quite dry and have a lot of hang nails and ripped cuticles. My nails were dipped in a water tray for maybe one minute, then they just filed and cut them right at the pedi chair. They don’t move you over to the manicure table. That area appeared to be for the fake nails only. By the end, my dark pants were covered in nail powder and I found nail clippings on top of my purse. My tech didn’t even push my cuticles back, or use an orange stick. It’s been 5 hours and my nails don’t look very good. Despite sitting under a dryer for 15 minutes, after I left I bashed one nail and gouged the polish. The rest look as though they are bubbling up around the cuticles. I think it was applied too thickly, I’m not sure. I’d go back and complain but I’m on my way out of town. I think I will just be removing the nail polish from my hands and do it myself.
The salon itself is clean and modern. I like their idea of each customer having their own personal box for files, etc which will be there with your name on it next time you come.
For the price I may go back for a quick pedicure but I don’t think I’ll ever bother with a manicure.

Went back to Mint today to have the service I received in my previous review corrected.
And I knew there was a reason I wanted to like this place so bad.
My nails looks amazing, Lee was my tech this time and she was not only gentle but incredibly fast and efficient. This set of nail is one of my favourite sets I’ve ever had.
Incredibly happy with the level of professionalism in handling this situation and I will be back!

Update: after postings original review the owner called me and booked an appointment for me so I could get my nails redone with a different tech free of charge. I think this is amazing customer service and can’t wait to go back and and get my nails redone! Thank you Mint!
Awful.
The place looks cool and the prices are decent. Hence the one star. But this was the worse gel French manicure I’ve ever had. The lady just couldn’t understand a word I was saying nor could I understand her. I wanted cute, delicate, square, but lightly rounded at corners and most importantly, short! I got long, aggressive, thick, uneven, bubbly and dust stuck within the layers. I feel like I have fake Halloween nails on.
I kept trying to tell her what I wanted and that I didn’t like what was she was doing, but she couldn’t understand what I was saying. And when she did speak she spoke in her mask so quietly I couldn’t even guess what she was trying to say! I had to ask her to repeat herself 3+ times and sometimes still never understood what she said.
I got so frustrated and annoyed I basically gave up. I was so choked I couldn’t bring myself to say anything because I knew I would probably be very unpleasant (and I didn’t want to do that) I basically went straight home and took my nail file and filed them like crazy to at least make them shorter. I’m so bummed, I really just want to go elsewhere and get them redone but after spending $ 60 (new set with small tip) I can’t get myself to waste my money. I tried to catch her name but obviously never understood what it was. I wanted to know because seemed like most of the other girls I would of actually been able to communicate with. But because I never got her name (to avoid her in the future) I am probably never going back.

Just came from my first appointment here. I gave ⁴⁄₅ stars because I think their online booking system may be flawed. I booked online yesterday for a shellac mani/​regular pedi at 2:15 today. When I showed up at 2:10, I was told my appointment was at 1:45 and that I was late; mind you I got the confirmation call yesterday reminding me of my 2:15 time so I was confused. When I asked the woman at the front how this mix up could’ve happened, she had no answers. All she said was «I have 1:45 here and that’s all I have.» She wasn’t rude at all but taking no accountability for the mix up/​not having any explanation as to why my appointment time had changed made me feel a little off. Needless to say, I was unable to get both services done so I opted for the shellac mani. My technician was very pleasant and did a very nice job. The appointment seemed rushed but I think that’s due to the mix up in appointment times. I will give this place another chance but I think I’ll be booking by phone next time. =)

Wow! I’m so happy I took the great advice of previous reviewers and decided to give this place a shot. It’s a little out of the way for me, but it is well worth it! Lee did a fabulous job on my mangled nails, and made them beautiful again. Exactly the way I like them. Prices were extremely reasonable. It is a nice, big, clean, open, beautiful space. Very relaxing the moment you walk in.
This place is a hidden gem, and they will continue to have my business.

I am so happy to have found Mint Nails & Spa… returned to Calgary almost 3 years ago and have had so-​so or mediocre nail experiences since then. Enter Mint Nails & Spa — so sleek, and stylish, and girly… all Tiffany turquoise and white, and shiny. 2 big tvs to watch (usually tuned to the Food Network). Lee does my french gel fills — and she is amazing! Not only do my nails always look better than they have in years — but she is truly a pain-​free tech — never burns with the drills (not even the little pointy one that goes under your nails) and my nails don’t «burn» under the uv lights when the gel’s curing… I’ve never had that before! I’ve always had to pull my hands out from the lamps to cool them. She is SO careful, but fast — I’m in and out in less than an hour. Their pedicures include a hot stone massage (wonderful) but are still under $ 40 which is very reasonable (my last salon charged $ 50+ for pedicures so I didn’t get them very often). I haven’t had any of their spa services (yet!) but as long as Lee is there, I will be a customer for life!

Very careless and painful work.
My experience at Mint was very painful, and some of my finger nails are red and still sore from the electrical metal nail sanding machine they used to remove my gel nails. The technician had no clue that she was using too much force and hurting my nails, and I had to stop her several times. I did not feel their work was professional at all, and I will never go back again.

Eep!!! One thing I love getting done often is my nails. Yes, I am one of those «not so talented woman» when it comes to putting on nail polish. Wish I had the talent. So I have no problem going to a salon every week for a manicure. Yes, I like to change up my polish color! Call me high maintenance or just call me Type «A», but I like to change it up and often.
So glad I checked out this new salon. It is gorgeous inside. Very modern and hip without the over the top trendy/​hip prices. I was going to take some photos but with my hands in water and getting buffed, it was tough to do so. Next time!

The service was fantastic, staff was friendly and the salon is very clean. All very important when coming to any salon. They also have an on-​line feature to book appointments, which I love instead of having to call. Another bonus.
I loved my manicure so much that I made another appointment for a Mani/​Pedi later the following week. Yes, I am organized and know what I like when it comes to my beauty needs. I will defiantly be a regular customer here.
