Mitchell Eye Centre

After the Dr. Bishop fiasco, I got a referral from my family physician to go to see this guy. Well first off, they moved from the Chinook professional centre and now are in some sort of business park nearby.
It took forever to get an appointment and when I say forever, I waited over two months just to get in. When you get in be prepared to wait at least 3 hours to see the good Dr. himself. On one occasion my entire morning was lost for a good 5 minutes of quality care from Dr. Mitchell, his «certified ophthalmic assistants» took about 15 minutes with me.
The overall vibe of this clinic is BITTER. It seems like all the staff have chips on their shoulders and are not happy to be there. A lot of the younger admin girls are all dolled up and carry the crappiest snooty attitude I have ever seen. If you read the reviews on «Rate my MD» they are not any better.
Since Alberta health pays for your visits to this clinic, I can see why the cattle set up is in place, more people=more money… having said that, I had to pay out of pocket for an orb scan when I HAVE NEVER PAID FOR ONE IN THE PAST at any eye clinic, even Dr. Gimbel and associates did not charge me for this service, all of which takes a whole 2 minutes.
I contacted Alberta health about that and they too told me that an orb-​scan was covered by them so it really makes me question what else they are charging patients for that would be covered?
Do yourself a favor and get a second opinion from a couple of reputable Laser Eye Centres in Calgary before you sign up here, my sister had Dr. Mitchell do not one but 2 cataract surgeries on her eyes– TWICE ON BOTH EYES FOR A 26 YEAR OLD… She said she was in excruciating pain for about a week after and that should not be the case, usually the recovery is a day or two tops.
Dr. Mitchell is well known as a reputable surgeon, has a lot of good press, and experience but I didn’t get a good overall vibe from the clinic and from his WRONG diagnosis of my eye condition — severe Keratoconus, that would require a corneal transplant… NO THANKS, NOT AFTER WHAT HAPPENED TO MY SISTER, FUCK THAT COUCH! I will not be returning to be tortured into waiting 3 hours to see him or his minions while they manhandle my eyeballs.
I have been in the great care of Gimbel and Associates for the past 4 years and couldn’t be happier, booked my PRK for next week! BTW if I had severe keratoconus, I would NEVER be able to get PRK.
