One of my biggest guilty pleasures in the food world are street cart /food truck hotdogs. If I see a cart or truck I haven’t had one from yet, I feel utterly compelled to see how they stack up. This one was the most disappointed I’ve ever been. Sure, their dogs are pretty big, which is cool… but at about twice the average price of most carts and trucks, I expected something really special. What I was met with was the most rubbery, flavorless meat(which was already cold, I might add) in a bun that was way too small to hold it, making proper condiment distribution impossible and also somehow managed to be dry and crusty AND soggy at the same time. They literally took a food item most 5 year olds can make for themselves, and found a handful of ways to utterly fail at it, then overcharged for the mess they produced. Add to this that their drink selection display showed several products they apparently didn’t have(and DIDN’T show 2 of the only 3 I was told I could order) and I was already not impressed at all. But probably the biggest issue I had was the woman working the truck the day I went. Not only did she very frequently(3 out of the 5 customers there when I approached) screw up the charging process(1 customer was originally charged more than sign price until he pointed it out and 2 were given the wrong change) but(and I wish I’d seen this before I ordered rather than while I was eating nearby) was switching from handling cash to peoples food seemlessly, without washing her hands, and there wasn’t a glove in sight. So yeah, if you somehow get a kick out of spending twice as much on inferior food, all for the right to play a game of chance with getting sick, then this is the truck for you. However, if you’re NOT insane, I would suggest going elsewhere.

A sausage & fries truck run by jovial Bulgarian fellow. All his sausages, including the hotdogs, are homemade and are a whopping 10″. At his suggestion, I tried the Bulgarian Nadesta sausage: an unobtrusive casing(I’m pretty picky about this), not too fatty meat, well salted and great flavours including cumin, black pepper, Italian parsley, some unpronounceable Bulgarian seasonings and a bit of booze. Served on a decent 8″ white bun, you can top at will with the usual mustard, hot peppers, relish, onion and sauerkraut. I really enjoyed the texture and flavour of this sausage, and will be back to try his other wares. Update: Came back and had the honey garlic sausage. Not a big fan of that one, as I said I’m picky about my sausages and everyone has different tastes. I also had some of the fresh cut organic yukon gold fries though, and they were really good, with just the salt provided.
