This truck just might be my new favourite barbecue joint in the city. I got the brisket sandwich for $ 13 with a complimentary side of fried mac’n’cheese. Completely filling and completely delicious. The meat is loaded with smokey flavour, is soft and juice, and since it appears to be from some sort of hopefully reputable ranch, is mostly likely good quality beef. The Fried mac n cheese makes for and excellent side. It tastes pan fried instead of deep fried — the gooey mac n cheese goodness you crave, but with some crunchy bits for interest. Loved it as I side but not sure that I think it’s a stand alone item. The BBQ sauce is tasty and original — traditional BBQ flavour but with load of peppercorn. I want to put it on everything! That said, a sauce bar would do this truck well. Maybe a few different BBQ sauces or hot sauces to put on things and let you customize your sandwich a bit. You just can’t find a BBQ sauce that will please everyone — it’s science. Alberta is home to some amazing beef so I’m glad to see a new, worthwhile BBQ truck in this city. If you’re at a food truck rally and can’t decide which truck to spend your money at — Ranch BBQ is well worth a try.
