Royal Canadian Legion Alberta Nwt Command Office

This is a neat little place that screams of hisory, honor and companionship of the highest order. A bunker and man cave like place, but welcome to members of the Legion and those who have served in the Canadian or American forces, it’s a place of comraderie and even legend.
While you do have to be a member or a guest to be there, and yes, it does kinda have that feel of a place for «old people», everyone (especially anyone who has ever served) really should take a decent look at this place. Complete with pool tables, a café and so on, there’s a decent sized dinner banquet hall for public events (weddings would be great here and I suspect small concerts), it’s an oasis in Forest Lawn for everyone. More importantly, it’s a great place to meet men and women who did Canada and the US proud, and to find out a little bit of a proud history that will fade in the near future. In about 10 years time, virtually everyone from WW2 will be gone, and then the Korean War 20 years from now… but membership will decline and fade. I don’t understand why really, but I hope that they manage to get the new blood in from Afghanistan vets.
Still, if you do have the chance to get in here, take a look at the walls, read the names from the faded portraits. Look at the rows upon rows of honours that their members earned with blood, sweat and tears, and offer a vet a beer and see if you can get a story or two.
I for one am proud to have the acquaintance of these people, and more importantly, to know of this Legion hall and how they serve their greater community.
