Shelley Vandervelde, Master of Photographic Arts owns and operates SVP Photography in Southwest Calgary, Alberta. SVP’s mission is to create powerful and compelling images that capture the soul and touch the heart. Shelley specializes in painted fine art and canvas portraits with custom Italian framing. Her passion is in prenatal, infant, baby, children and family portraiture. In 2015 Shelley added a new division — The Art of a Woman and provides the time and space for you to explore and express who you are as a woman.

History

Established in 2004.

Shelley Vandervelde is a Master of Photographic Arts with the Professional Photographers of Canada. A tour through her photography studio reveals a portfolio of images in which she has captured the moment; delving artistically into a world of ambience and emotions.

Shelley loves to share a latte with her clients; getting to know them and helping them design the portraits or images they will create together. She assists her clients in selecting their favourite images and provides fine art and canvas portraits as well as custom Italian framing.

The time she spends helping you plan your session and her ability to put you at ease in front of the camera will be evident in the final product. Shelley challenges herself in every session to create powerful and compelling images that tell your life story in visual poetry.

Business Owner

Shelley left a career in Speech Pathology to spend more time with her husband who developed multiple health issues. During that time she was able to discover her true passion for photography.

Shelley has attainted her Masters of Photographic Arts through the Professional Photographers of Canada. She has received awards of Merit and Excellence both Provincially and Nationally with Best in Class Awards in Child Portrait multiple times. She was Canada’s Portrait Photographer of the Year in 2012 and Alberta’s in 2014.

But it is not about awards and degrees but about the gift that portraiture allows her to give those she has the honour of photographing. She knows that gift all too well from the professional portraits she was able to have taken prior to the loss of her husband to cancer. Too often she hears «I wish I would have…»
