Words can’t describe! Must see. A good way to spend your weekend. I visited there in winter time for sure I would like to go back in summer time to see it again.

While the flood greatly impacted the zoo, it is amazing to hear how they dealt with the flood emergency. Talking to the employees there, you can see how much they care about the animals and how much they love what they do. The new penguin exhibit is lovely. The Africa exhibit is also great. I was lucky enough to be able to do the Behind the Scenes experience with the giraffes, where you get to get up close and personal. Would recommend visiting on a weekday or perhaps in winter, when it won’t be quite as busy. On a nice summer weekend day, the crowds can be a little much to handle and take away from the experience.

Color me impressed. Zoos aren’t top of list to visit in any city but we decided to make the most of the weather and go to the zoo! I am so glad we did. What a great attraction for the City of Calgary. We saw the new lion cubs and almost everything else — this place is huge. Most impressive — the penguins. We went on a Monday so didn’t face the massive line-ups rumored to happen on the weekends. So good we went twice. And got to see the final feeding of the day. I giggled like a school girl I was so thrilled. Be prepared to walk walk walk. But on a lovely day in Calgary this is a great place to visit or re-visit.

Not a big fan of zoos, but I really like this one. Lovely surroundings, animals seem well cared for and everything seems well maintained. If possible, take in any of the zookeeper talks, you will be so impressed by their dedication and passion for their animals. Food in Kitamba café is better than most take-out and there are healthy options. If you are visiting from out of town, always check the visit calgary site for zoo package deals. Twice we have stayed in new hotels for reduced rates that included our zoo tickets and this year penguin slippers for the kids.
