This is a very quaint little store on 17th ave. I rediscovered this place before stuffing myself silly with poutine. I walked in was greeted with a rather modest selection(compared to other stores with«guitar» in their name) of a brand of guitar I have never seen before called«Logical». It’s a small company based out of Vancouver(according to the young man working the till) I was intrigued. These Guitars are basically copies of more expensive guitars but with slight differences, and the real kicker is that they are a fraction of the cost! So if anything, Guitar connection is worth coming to simply to check out these guitars. I played one of them(fender thinline telecaster style) and it was impressive! Quite a solid built guitar for not a whole lot may just have to purchase one to add to the collection one day… Their were a few other odd ball guitars floating around to, but nothing crazy to note. Guitar Connection seems to have a loyal group of patrons who frequent the store(for lessons, repairs, set ups and new purchases). From what I hear the guy who runs the place is local legend guitarist! and great guitar teacher, I am dabbling with perhaps taking a few lessons here from the guru himself! The only negative thing I have to say is that the selection of strings and picks was barely non existent which I found a little strange at a guitar store? Also the prices are a little inflated for the strings I bought(about two dollars more than average) but nothing you would not expect from an independent store, I was happy to pay! Though it’s not a store with a whole lot of variety or stock it certainly makes up for it with charm and a community feel. I really enjoyed my little visit here and I hope to come back soon!
