From the very beginning, packages such as garages, decks, and fences have always been a key part of Totem’s business. Over the years, new packages were developed including sheds, playcentres and dozens of accessory packages such as vinyl siding, eavestroughs, deck railings, electrical wiring, and soffit/​fascia packages.

As a result, we developed a computer program to streamline package sales for do-​it-​yourselfers. This program enhances our ability to deal with the specific needs of our customers and allows us to make alterations «on-​the-​spot» to fit your individual needs. History

Established in 1970.

Totem Building Supplies Ltd. is an independent Calgary-​based retail home improvement company that was started in 1970 by Jim Thorogood and his father Cliff.

Since the first store opened in Calgary’s Forest Lawn community, Totem has grown immensely and currently operates 16 retail locations, two contract sales divisions, a distribution center and support office throughout the province of Alberta.
