Though you may recall our gallery and public space in Calgary’s Art Central, Art Central is now closed and UPPERCASE’s studio has moved. We are now concentrating on publishing and no longer have a public gallery. If you’d like to make an appointment, please consult our website. thanks!

UPPERCASE publishes books and magazines for the creative and curious: products that spark the imagination and inspire creativity. Our eponymous magazine is loved by readers around the world and has been recognized for its design excellence. Our books profile up-​and-​coming artists or explore emerging trends in design and creativity.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Janine Vangool is the publisher, editor and designer of UPPERCASE. UPPERCASE publishes content inspired by design, typography, illustration and craft. Her magazine and books celebrate the process of making, the commitment to craft and the art of living creatively. Janine has worked as a freelance graphic designer in the arts, culture and publishing sectors and has also taught typography and publication design at the college level. She has a particular fondness for typewriters, a passion that has inspired a book about their graphic history.
