We made the mistake of having our work Christmas party there. The comedians were so bad that I started to fall asleep from boredom. The food was worse! The turkey appeared to have come from a processed turkey ball — there was no way it came from a real turkey. I had to ask someone what the pinkish brown dish was. Stuffing apparently. There were only about a half dozen dishes in the buffet, none of which were particularly appetizing. I left as soon as I ate.

I love comedy and have been frequenting yuk yuks for many years in different provinces. I’ve always enjoyed the comedians, whether local or big names. The service at the Calgary location has exceeded any expectation I’ve ever had of a comedy club. Their staff are fantastic and remember you if you frequent their location. I’ve had two occurrences where patrons were unruly or blatantly rude and the staff have given us free passes to another show as compensation(without us having to complain). I’ve also received a call on two separate occasions, when the headliner listed couldn’t perform, to notify us of such so we could change our reservation if we were effected by this change. Who even does this? They called every single person with a reservation to notify them of the change. How courteous is that! It’s no wonder I frequent yuk yuks on a monthly basis.

Yuk Yuks has improved from their precious location at the Deerfoot Inn! A much needed upgrade and a lot nicer place to visit without feeling your leaving with some gross disease from their nasty unclean dining area. The below average food and service seemed to follow its name to the the new venue, so don’t expect anything good. Order your drinks early and enjoy what you got, because refills come slow. As for the comedy acts, I found my last experience to be pretty good and really funny. I was impressed with the lineup and the headliner. I’d give this place another shot to see how it goes my second time.

I’ve been to Yuk Yuk’s Calgary comedy club at the Elbow River Casino many times and always enjoyed it. You’re always in for something different, sometimes it’s the MC, opener or middle act that ends up stealing the show, but most of the time the headliners are the reason you’ll want to go! However the night plays out one thing is for sure, you’re going to laugh and you’re going to smile for at least some of it :). The staff here has always been good to us as well, despite serving a large crowd they’re usually quick with drink and food orders, and the kitchen is efficient with delivering on these orders! The ticket counter attendees and doormen are nice as well, sometimes we even joke around with each other now that we’ve earned a little more of a «regular» status. If you’re brave like us try sitting at the front some time, this is what we always do, best spot in the house if you’re not afraid of being picked up and getting involved haha. The food menu is limited to a very small appetizer selection; pretty conventional pub selections that won’t blow you away. Nachos are your best value here for sure, chicken fingers are decent as well but no fries included :(. The small food menu is matched by an equally small drink menu, very limited bottle and draft selection. We usually go with the Village Wit. The plus side is their drinks are priced reasonable enough, definitely better than most of Calgary these days. Grab a pitcher for max value ;). The show itself is also priced fairly at about $ 20/ticket, if you can make the Thursday show this goes down to around $ 12. Pretty cheap for live entertainment IMO considering you’re guaranteed at least a few good laughs! If it’s a special show that features a bigger name comic you can expect to pay a bit more, even so these are usually only a couple bucks more in the $ 23 – 25 range. Check the schedule online ahead of time to see who is performing. It’s pretty hard to tell which shows are going to be busy and which ones are going to be quiet, we’ve seen it play out against expectation before so I always recommend buying tickets ahead of time and making a reservation! I think we can all agree that life should be full of laughter and smiles, so I’d definitely recommend checking out Yuk Yuk’s next time you’re looking for something to do on the weekend. Anytime we’ve convinced friends to join us they’re always glad they came :). My only knock against the experience is the limited menu, but we always get over this pretty quick.

I think I have now been to almost every comedy venue in Calgary and I can honestly say this is my least favorite. I would honestly rather drive down to Comedy Cave than come back to Yuk Yuk’s. The room is spacious, the drinks are decent, and the food is over priced. However, I think the casino downstairs really does make the place comedy-club-light. This is the sort of place that seems like a ‘safe’ introduction to comedy for people that don’t usually go. It was filled with a lot of groups that seemed to be ‘out on the town’ and not actually there for the comedy. There were conversations during the show and numerous members of the audience were getting pretty intoxicated by the end.(That probably has some to do with the fact that you can order a mini pitcher for yourself for $ 20). It’s not that I’m trying to be a comedy snob, but rather I’m just saying I don’t find this to be a great venue for people that actually love comedy. If this is your first time, then this is a good place to see comedians that have a bit more polish and experience. However, if you really like comedy and want to support local comedians, go to Comedy Monday Night at Broken City or Jupiter Comedy at Oak Tree. Or try out Friday night at Comedy Cave… it’s a dingy venue but you know you’re at a comedy show and not a frat party. All in all, it’s not a bad stop for a evening, but I wouldn’t make it your destination.

Shows are consistently good or better. Service is too. But the food is below par in every way. Nachos? Don’t bother. Apparently the chefs at Yuk Yuks don’t know how to melt cheese. It’s like they don’t want people to order food. So they try to make it bad. With only seven things on the menu, you’d think they would all be good. Not so, sadly. The only thing worth having are the wings. Unless the headliner is a name, the memory of the bad food keeps me from going back.

I’m a fan of Yuk Yuk’s its fun, easy to get to and box office is super easy to go through. I am not a fan of the food, eat before you arrive. seriously gross. but otherwise its a super fun place to go!

I’ve been the times now and have yet to hear an unfunny Comedian. My only complaint would be that the food is awful. It’s just frozen processed food that they heat up, not that you’d expect anything fancy. The shows are great though and it’s the same price as a movie. Will definitely be coming back many more times

I brought my mom here last weekend for an impromptu date night, and we had a blast. This was only my second or third time at the new location in Elbow River Casino, and it was the busiest I’ve seen it! The venue is good and the food & drinks are decent, but the service is lacking. It took forever to get our orders and we had to remind the server twice about our potato skins. All in all, it was a fun night, but I prefer The Laugh Shop for comedy shows instead.

Three of us decided to check this place out, it’s actually on the second floor of a casino. We were here to check out Tom Greens stand up. The set-up was not too bad, and the lighting was good. Sound wasn’t too bad either. The food was okay(I would consider it to be bar-type food). Server we had was actually very attendant considering the amount of people she had to look over. Overall, I would recommend.

This was my first trip to Yuk Yuks at this location, since it moved to Elbow Casino. My friend had got free tickets for four, so we made it a double date. I do enjoy the layout here, we got an awesome booth in the corner with a good view of the stage, yet far enough away to not get picked on by the comedians. There was a bachelorette party there that night, that was front row and center an was amusing for us by standers to see them part of the routines. The host, Steve is hilarious, we have seen him before at the Laugh shop, he used a lot of the same material, but it was still funny. The main comedian was super funny to, we laughed the whole time. The only downfall was the food, we had ate dinner before had, so we weren’t hungry, most of the options are pub style, there is a little bistro in the basement that serves snacks and desserts. I will definitely come back here again.

I was feeling a bit out of strung on a Thursday night when my friend Rose made my day with a free ticket to a show. Located inside the Elbow Casino, Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club is kind of odd. It felt like I was walking into a hotel conference/meeting room when I expected to stroll into a pub/club because Yuk Yuk’s was so well known across the city. The table setup was kinda weird. It was all lined up parallel to the stage rather than the traditional single tables sprawled across the room. I felt like I was in school. This made it somewhat awkward for waitresses to come around for drinks and orders and could be visibly seen by the room. Still I liked Yuk Yuk’s. The comic acts of the night were great, talents from across the country that dropped into Calgary. The crowd was a bit cold and dulled out but the MC did an awesome job getting the crowd hyped up. I never got why people felt the need to heckle comics, it seems like people did it just to have the focus suddenly shift towards them in the room, silly reason to busts a performer’s ball if you ask me Overall a great show, I believe the headliner either won Comic of the year or was a contender, but the guy was HILARIOUS! Either way, SOOOO many dirty jokes left for me to steal…

As with all places of this nature it is very hard to make a review. It depends on the individual taste of the one writing the review. Let me try to explain my rating: Yuk Yuk’s is stand-up comedy with food-service. You do not come here to have dinner so the quality of the food is only a side aspect. It is good but nothing special. The comedy however depends on each individuals taste and background. You basically have three kinds of comedy: * local jokes where you need to live here and know the history of the place * language jokes where it helps to be a native speaker * universal comedy — simple but effective We had three comedians this evening — one of each group. What I can not stand is making fun of minorities or dirty language jokesm, this is cheap. I prefer the intelligent fun without f*** in every second sentence. One of the acts was exactly this. Another act was concentrating on local jokes which is hard to follow if you just moved to Calgary two years ago. The main act however was awesome. Most of the jokes concentrated on daily-life situations, they were intelligent and no one was hurt ;) For me this evening was worth 3 stars. With different comedians may come different results.

Tonight, our team at work had our Christmas party at Yuk Yuks. There was approximately 60 of us for a dinner buffet at 6, plus the show at 8 p.m. I have been to Yuk Yuks a number of times at the Blackfoot, but this was my first time at the Elbow River Casino for the show. I have picked up free tickets for charities at the box office here a number of times — but this is the first time I enjoyed a show at this location. Compared to some of the other local comedy clubs, this one is a cut above the rest. The dinner was amazing. It was a delicious turkey and ham dinner buffet with all fixings, and then the show itself had top notch entertainment. The MC, opening act and headliner were all bust-your-gut funny. It is not unusual for me to enjoy a comedy show, but it is rare that I find all three comedians to be hilarious. Yuk Yuks obviously brings in only top notch talent on a Friday night. The décor was modern and clean and there is an underground parkade that is free, which isa nice touch. I will definately be back here. What a fantastic night! 25⁄30

I’d say this is the nicest comedy venue in town. Moderate lighting, nice booths and decent service. I’ve only ever paid full price for a show once(thank goodness because weekend evenings are a bit pricey) as my spouse’s company often books the room. Therefore, I’ve had the buffet a few times and the food is average. I always look forward to the desert, as they serve a wide variety of fresh and yummy mini cupcakes. Yuk Yuks has always brought in top-notch comedians(I find there’s at least 1 – 2 per night) and since the venue change, they’ve kept it up. I do recall going one night within the past year that the comedy was below average, but that’s just one instance in probably two dozen past experiences. I’ll admit that I’m not a fan of the stinky casino, which you don’t really have to deal with, but occasionally you have to walk past some stinky and sketchy patrons. Also, the restrooms outside of the comedy club have their own odor from time to time which you can smell from the hallway. Thankfully I’ve never had an issue finding parking in the lot across the street, but on really busy evenings it certainly could be an issue, especially if there’s a big event at the Saddledome.

Yuk Yuk’s is hidden away on the 2nd floor of the Elbow River Casino. I’ve had a couple of occasions to visit it recently, and I daresay, I’m going to be frequenting this comedy club a little more often. I’ve been to a couple of the other comedy shops in town, the service, the food and drink, and the quality of comedians at Yuk Yuk’s easily surpass the rest. They’re in a league of their own in our city. If you’re looking to be singled out by the comedian, sit up front. They can’t see much farther into the audience with that light shining on them. Otherwise, make a b-line for one of the booths. The angle is much easier to see the stage from, and the seats comfier than the long tables with chairs in the middle of the room. A popular food choice seems to be the nachos. Piled high with toppings, and layered in between the chips to boot, you’ll be wanting to share these babies. They can easily feed 3 – 4 people as a platter to snack on. The last time I was there, the salsa did taste a bit weird. almost like the spice you get in caesars. No I wasn’t drinking caesars that night: p. Another thing to note-there’s underground parking at the casino, and it’s free. So get there early for your nachos, and enjoy a primo spot.

I love going to Yuk Yuks — when I can afford it. I’ve been here many times and always had a great time. I always check out the comedian bios before going to see if I want to go, and usually will. The service is friendly and efficient. The servers check up and get new drinks without disturbing the show. Tickets are a bit high, but the comedians are worth it.

This is one of those times when I wish we could give half stars. A five star rating makes it appear that there’s nothing this club could do to improve which honestly isn’t true, but a four just isn’t good enough to put across just how great it is. I’ll start with the bad news: If you aren’t seated in one of the large booths around the back and side of the room, your next option are long integrated tables down the middle which are less than ideal on packed nights, as it doesn’t provide your group a lot of privacy(unless, of course, you manage to fill the table, but this is rare) and some people get a bit uncomfortable being seated at the same table as strangers in this kind of environment. The food menu is also slightly limited, and can be a tad pricey. But wow, do the shows ever make up for it. The Yuk Yuk’s brand is the leading provider of comedy shows in Canada for a reason; they have a roster filled with the top talent in the country and have been known to pull in guest acts from outside of it as well. While this club may not have the reputation for pulling in «celebrities» that the competition does, what they DO have are real comics. As opposed to a guy who used to be on a sitcom years ago and now has decided to try his hand at stand up, you will get guys who’ve been doing it for 10 or 20 years, and have built their lives around putting together the best act possible, and it’s hard to compete with that kind of quality. This isn’t to say that sometimes one couldn’t show up on a bad night, where the crowds just not into it and the«magic» isn’t really flowing, but these happen everywhere, and at least here they are much fewer and farther between. Futhermore, the local talent that support these big acts as MCs, middle acts, and even the up & comers that drop by to do guest spots are the best in the city. I can personally say I know pretty much every comedian in Calgary and when I compare where they hone their crafts, Yuk Yuk’s gets the pick of the litter. It’s for these reasons, the great atmosphere, the awesome service and great staff that when anybody I know asks where they should go to see a stand up show I ALWAYS tell them Yuk Yuk’s is the only way to go.

I’ll be honest: Yuk Yuk’s is hit or miss. Sometimes it’s a gut-bustin’, teeth chattering, belly grippin’ good time. And sometimes it’s a time wastin’, body achin’, date snoozin’ kinda time. But here’s the thing: If you happen to go on a good night, it’s flippin’ fantastic. Some of my fondest memories of nights out on the town include a date at Yuk Yuk’s. Some of the acts are so hilarious that I wonder why they haven’t been snatched up by Second City or Just For Laughs. What’s fun about Yuk Yuk’s is that not only is it a comedy club, but it’s a great place to socialize with your date. Generally when doors open, you have about an hour or so to just sit, chat and drink. The atmosphere is nice and the location is classy because it’s right inside a hotel. Yes, some nights are ‘bad nights’ at Yuk Yuk’s, but I’m willing to risk it. If for every 3 great nights, there’s a bad night, who cares? As long as I’m with good company, how bad can a room full of people who are lookin’ for a good laugh really be???
