I stopped in on a walking culinary tour. The second last venue was Shepherd’s Pub where we were given a sampling of local brew, Stone Hammer Pilsner. Shepherd’s Pub has many local brews on tap. It had a comfortable vibe perfect for having a good time. Even though it’s in the lower level, you can still sit at the back and enjoy a view of the Grand River.

Try a local Stone Hammer Pilsner! It is super cold & delicious! The fish and chips look fresh & local. Delicious, cold beer… It smells like a whiz down there sometimes, but the food and friendly staff and patrons are legit. During the World Cup they have the huge screen 100% dedicated to soccer! BOOM! Love it!~

Now this is a pub. Dark, downstairs, god-awful carpet with wear and beer stains, ceiling beams and stucco. All that was missing was brass plates on the walls. Service was sketch, though. Our server was new and it was clear — several tables that ordered after us got their starters before us. First up — Soup of the Day, Cream of Sweet Potato. Great taste. Nice an thick, as you could almost stand on it. Unfortunately, they screwed up. The cream/milk added was curdled. Not as in «off», but heated too fast. Rookie mistake, but delicious nonetheless. Chicken BLT — it was average. Nothing unusual or different about it. The bun was fresh and toasty. Fish ‘n’ Chips — very nice. Beer batter was nice and light. Perfectly cooked. Side of slaw and fries were mediocre. The best part of time spent here was the local beer selection. I would say there were 10 or so local beers on tap. Stone Hammer was an awesome draft — hint of chocolate. Another was«Galt Knife» something or other. Nice clean lager. All served cold. Available for beer tours. Will return. Often.
