5 stars the inside is cute 5 stars the service 3 stars the food We came in for breakfast. Eggs, eggs, galore. Scrambled, poached, omelettes. The waitress is really friendly and the atmosphere is really soothing for today’s rainy morning. The only thing is the food was like other reviews said… Average. My veggies were soaked in oil :(the eggs Benedict is a bit salty. It’s a decent priced meal. It was a good experience for my stay in Collingwood.

3.5 Stars Overall this place seems like a solid choice for food. We only had drinks here so obviously I can’t comment on the food, however it was pretty busy for a Saturday afternoon. As we had already had brunch elsewhere this place was recommended to us by a local for a nice place to get a quick drink. Our server was nice and made recommendations regarding what we wanted to drink. I’d try the food here when I’m back in the Collingwood area. Our server was really nice

Had breakfast here with my wife and was pleased with the food, service and setting. They have local artists work hanging which adds to the atmosphere. The food was standard diner breakfast and very good. Coffee was also a step above standard diner coffee. Overall a good experience and would recommend eating here.

Had the beef and vegetable soup. The soup was a bit too salty for my liking. My friend had the salad with chicken and said it was good. Maybe I will stick to the salad next time. Friendly service though!

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. They make the Best Soups in Town and a very varied menu. Something for everyone!

Came for dinner and had the salmon in puff pastry. It was delicious — especially the dill sauce. Can’t wait to come back and try more menu items.

Good enough. For $ 6.50 you get 2 eggs. Coffee is an extra $ 2.5. Standard quality and pricing around Collingwood.

I really like this place. I was just in Collingwood for 2 weeks and went 3 times! Cute little café with local art on the walls, had a very cosy feel. The butternut squash soup is to die for. The mushroom soup is delicious too. And the grilled cheese sandwich was soo yummy. Service was a little slow both times, but fine if you’re not in a hurry and friendly enough. I’ll be back next time I’m in Collingwood!

The patio initially caught our eyes when we walked around main st to try and find a place for lunch. We arrived just before the lunch hour so didn’t need to wait for a seat, I suggest arriving early as the place filled very quickly. We were still hoping to get breakfast food, but were out of luck. No biggie. I order the chicken pita which came with potato salad(~$ 10) and my friends both ordered the steak sandwich which came with choice of salad/fries and potato salad, one came with a side of pototo wedges as well(both around $ 14). The portions were generous and everything was delicious. The only small complaint my friend had was that the steak was well done instead of medium that she had originally requested for. Other than that, she said it was one of the better steak sandwiches that she’s had in a while. Service was good, not much to comment on. Overall, I would recommend giving this place a go.

This place came recommended from the shop next door and an excellent recommendation it was. I had the chicken crêpe. It was just enough to satisfy a hunger that had been 3 hours in the making sitting in stop and go traffic. Although the food was excellent, the service was on the slower side, or maybe it was just us as we were all famished by the time we walked in. Everything came fresh and hot from the kitchen. Even tho the service was slow, our server was pleasant to deal with and as accommodating as he possibly could be. Not his fault that the food took a long time. Definitely on my short list!

I love Duncan’s! They have the best breakfasts in town which run until late on the weekends! Try the Huevos Rancheros — it’s awesome!

I came here for brunch once when I was staying in Collingwood. The décor was nice, but the food and service was disappointing. The server came off as a little rude, but it might’ve just been his personality. However, I ordered a glass of water and I had to remind him twice about it. I also wanted the bill, but he forgot again so my dad had to get up and ask again. The food was sub par. I ordered the Egg Benedict, but the proportions were off. The pemeal bacon was too big for the small biscuit. The biscuit was soggy as soon as I got the food. Everything was salty except the toast and home fries. Overall, it was not a good meal and I wouldn’t visit again

The place has great energy. The food was great. Service was awesome. Our only complaints were that they didn’t have pancakes and the home fries sucked!

I’m not in the Collingwood area very often, but I stopped by here for brunch on my way back from a weekend at Blue Mountain. We picked Duncan’s while searching for brunch places based on some pretty good Unilocal reviews. That being said, maybe with limited options in the vicinity, the rave reviews should be taken with a grain of salt. So we arrived around 11-ish with a large group of 8 people, no reservations or anything. The restaurant was able to accomodate us without waiting, but gave us two tables for 4. We asked to move the tables, but they said we couldn’t because that would block the aisle, which was very reasonable. A few minutes later, they came back and told us that a table for 8 had freed up, which I thought was very considerate of them. Points for service here! I ordered the eggs benedict, which comes with peameal bacon on the English muffin here, so that is a little bit different from most places. I thought the eggs were pretty standard, but some of the home fries were a little bit burnt, and the peameal bacon was too salty. I tried some of my friend’s steak, and thought it was a little bit too dry and/or overcooked, but then again, he did ask for medium to medium-well, which isn’t really my cup of tea. I liked the vibe in the restaurant, which definitely felt like a small town, community kind of diner, with a bar at the back. The place is vibrant and fun, with lots of cool artwork hanging around the restaurant walls which are available for purchase. Verdict: Duncan’s is a decent choice for breakfast/brunch if you’re in the area, and the people who work here are very nice and accomodating. However, the quality of the food doesn’t get any better than average, so don’t set your expectations too high.

Came here for brunch after a weekend of skiing at blue mountain(located on the way back to Toronto). Great atmosphere on first impression, Canadian artworks, acoustic music really added to a Canadian diner feel. Server wasn’t able to accommodate our group of 8 people but once a bigger table became available she was happily able to move us. The Western Omelet was served very quickly and was very healthy tasting, and the coffee was reasonably priced with a free refill. If you come make sure to take advantage of free parking nearby. Would come back again.

I came here with a group of friends and was just able to get a table for 8. They have a few tables for groups but tables of 4 are the best. Breakfast options are available but the diner gets busy around lunch. I really like how all the art on the walls are for sale — adds a distinctive taste to the café and also helps to promote local artists. I ordered a steak and eggs. It was very average in quality — the steak was slightly overcooked for medium. Good quantity as it is very filling. General consensus among our group is that it is a nice casual diner with average quality food.

I had the leek and potato soup, which was quite good. Serving portions were good. They served us at around 3:30, so it wasn’t very busy. Food took longer to bring than expected, considering it was empty. Pretty good service. At least they served us instead of turning us away at the door, like café chartreuse.

On the way up to Sauble Beach my brother and I stopped into Duncan’s. He picked it out, and it seemed like a decent pick because they had 4 stars on Unilocal and the menu looked interesting. I think they try to at least do interesting food at Duncan’s, but they miss the mark. I had the steak sandwich, and they didn’t slice the steak into strips at all like I had expected but put a big chunk of steak between a baguette. This could have been okay if it wasn’t for the BIG piece of grizzle on the one side which I had an impossible time to chew through. The temperature on the steak was fine, but they really should slice up that steak. They could even use a cheap cut and marinate it, and then slice it up real thinly. I’m not sure what my brother didn’t like about the blackened salmon wrap, but after the meal we both said the side salad was our favourite part. I had the garden, he had the caesar. Not to knock salads, but when that’s your favourite part of the meal… it’s kind of telling. To top things off, the service was a little meh, and I’m not one to be too picky about service(as long as the food is good). It was just the two of us and when we arrived the place wasn’t too busy, but got busy later. The stop took us an hour, and we were a group of two, and our sides were SALADS. Not only this, but when my brother asked for the bill as the waitress came by, she kind of shunned him off. They put some effort into trying to make the food interesting here, but considering how little they seem to know about making high quality food, they really shouldn’t be charging the prices they are charging. On my way back from Sauble Beach I ate at a place that was cheaper, more filling, and way more tastier. I would describe this place as overpriced and slow. If I was to go back I would try the turkey burger, but I doubt I’ll be back.

Duncan’s Café is located on what I would call the Food Avenue of downtown Collingwood. We popped in here on a Sunday late afternoon on our way back to Toronto. The restaurant wasn’t really busy since we were eating at like 2:30 in the afternoon. The hostess walked by us several times and took her time. I had to speak to her first and asked if we could be seated. I was annoyed and hungry, maybe you have to look like you came from a drunken cottage ski-trip to get service here. The menu had a lot of items. When we were asked for our order, we asked for coke. Abruptly they said they only had Pepsi. Ok, fine. The said, please don’t order the Duncan burger, we just sold it. Damn. I had the jerk-chicken mango salad. It was a generous portion and the ginger dressing was light and refreshing. I did like my salad! They close at 4pm and I heard the waitress say she was going to start booting people off the patio. Did she really have to be so rude about it? Anyways, the food isn’t bad, but I would never be back.
